"Well, hello. What have we here?" Aldric blinked in surprise when he awoke to Islinda in his arms.
He lifted his head to check if the demarcation she had put in place was still in check because he didn’t remember inviting her to his side of his bed, before she woke up and accused him of what he didn’t do.
Although he did do something.
Aldric finally remembered pulling her over to his side, but he did that with sleep in his eyes. In one word, he hadn’t not been thinking straight and it was nice to know that Islinda was compliant and he wouldn’t have to bear the blame alone.
Islinda was cuddled up next to him with both of them lying face to face and his arms were dead. Aldric was not a hugger, at least for years since..... forget about her.
The human was lying on his arm while the other was wrapped around her waist. In one word, it helped him recall why he hated this kind of intimacy. Who would intentionally suffer like this and how did they get to this point?
Islinda was supposed to be scared of him, not sharing a bed with him. But Aldric had to admit it felt kind of nice and the female gracing his bed was a breath of fresh air. Usually, he never invited humans nor half-breeds into his bed because he felt they were too fragile for the kind of intimacy he likes to enjoy.
However, Aldric found himself being drawn to them lately, at least one of them to be precise. Maybe it was her softened features that were attracting him, unlike the flawless nature of his pure-blooded Fae kind, especially their cheekbones that could cut glass.
Aldric carefully leaned over, admiring Islinda’s face and poking her soft cheeks which was kind of adorable. But even with the disturbance, Islinda did not stir. Talk about a heavy sleeper. His gaze then fell to her lips and he swallowed, parched.
His eyes darkened as he stared at her luscious lips and it was his for the taking. He recalled the way she tasted and the wanton feelings she evoked in him last night. Aldric could have taken her and she wouldn’t even resist him. However, as he said before, she wasn’t ripe yet and he was preparing her for plucking.
How nice that day would be, Aldric thought with half-lidded eyes, tracing his thumb across her irresistible lower lips. Islinda shuddered in response, leaning closer till her head was on his chest and she hugged his waist.
Aldric was amused, the little human was courting danger. There was no way she felt secure and surrounded by his presence, right? He means, he was her nightmare come to life and she should be scared of him, not being comfortable in his embrace.
And yet, Aldric could not push her away. There was just something interesting about Islinda. No wonder he decided to keep her and not kill after using her to get what he wanted. Although Islinda was going to hate him after he was done, however, ’hate’ was a strong emotion and he didn’t need a human enamored with him anyway. It was easy to avoid complications since humans were full of drama.
Aldric liked the way Islinda hated him yet couldn’t help but want him. The push and pull relationship between them was kind of interesting and hot, he couldn’t wait to see how long it lasted. Aldric knew that it was his effect on her - females were naturally attracted to his good looks - and more. Islinda might really have a bit of darkness in her and he couldn’t want to bring it to light. Likes attract, don’t they?
The girl killed her step-sister and would have continued the killing streak if it wasn’t two against one - Madam Alice and Lillian overpowered her - but then, he lent a helping hand, didn’t he? Yes, that was him being chivalrous, not that she noticed or thanked him. Although the little human would argue that it was an act of self-defense, that was the sexiest move Aldric had ever seen.
No, Aldric shook his head. That would make Islinda no less than the walking dead. Not to mention the procedure was strenuous and risky enough to do more than enough damage to Islinda’s mind. How does that make it any different from the stunt Valerie pulled last night? Moreover, he liked Islinda’s smart mouth and originality. Aldric would have to find other creative ways to manipulate Islinda over to his side.
