Islinda need not guess why Rosalind hung around until Zaya was done healing her with the Fae advising her to have a short rest and then left as if she somehow sensed the tension between both females and the need to talk.
Biting down on her lips nervously, Islinda wondered where to start and the amount of information to share with the Fae that wasn’t too much. She might have deceived Zaya with her excuses but this was Rosalind who had been with Adric for as long as the gods know. Rosalind knew Aldric to the core - and his sex drive. She knows what the dark Fae prince was capable of.
Islinda expelled a large breath, "I’m sorry," She said, "I was not supposed to get involved with Aldric. I mean he’s your lover and all, and to be honest, I don’t do well with sharing. If I were in your shoes, I’d feel bad and probably deal with the situation emotionally. But if it makes you feel better, then you should know that I haven’t slept with him." Yet.
She looked up after the confession, hoping to get some reaction from Rosalind, but there was none. Was she angry or not? The female Fae’s expression was too apathetic to read a thing.
"That day you saw me on his bed, something happened and I had to leave my own room to stay in his," Islinda told her warily, studying her body language to know when Rosalind would charge at her and she would run for her life. But so far, there was none. The Fae was oddly calm.
Or perhaps, that was a Fae thing to not close clarity when another woman confesses to be intimate with your lover. Lots of human experiences have taught Islinda that this was the point where her hair would be pulled out by the emotional victim. She could not understand the Fae race at all.
"Someone tried to kill me that night and Aldric protected me. I couldn’t stay in the room anymore in case the killer returned." Islinda fed her the incomplete truth of the event.
Andre already informed her that Valerie would be in trouble if the truth were to get out, she was not about to risk that. Especially not to Rosalind. Apart from her fascination with Aldric, she had no idea where her loyalty lies and could not trust her completely.
Aside from that, what if she talked to someone else and the news spread like wildfire? Then it would be her fault. In one word, no one can know what happened that night.
"What am I trying to say? I would not betray you by sleeping with Aldric. No matter his advances, I would fight with him. That is the least respect I could pay you for daring to love Aldric," The mad Fae, "After today’s incident, I am more than determined to get away from him," To ensure this strange attraction doesn’t grow into something else. Something intense and overwhelming. She can never open up her heart for Aldric, he would shatter it into a million pieces.
Islinda was done with her speech and stared at her hands on her lap as if it were a thing of interest as she waited for Rosalind to say something. Her stomach coiled with anticipation and couldn’t stand the nervousness anymore, waiting for Rosalind’s judgment.
"You can sleep with Aldric."
