Mated To The Cruel Prince novel Chapter 242

Chapter 242: The Fae Who Kissed Her

There was nothing left for Issac to do in the palace, so he left. Aldric has not summoned him since that incident, and the countable time he and the dark prince crossed paths, the prince treated him as if he didn’t exist. The dark Fae prince passed him by as if he were air. And to be honest, he was tempted to go after him and plead his case until he recalled the look of death Aldric gave him that night and the warning from Maxi.

And yes, Maxi....

It has been two days since their argument and Issac has been treated to a cold bed; Maxi has not snuck into his room ever since. Issac refused to admit that he missed her. This distance was good for both of them, well, him to be precise. The dark Fae horse shifter was a bad influence on him and he was losing all of his morals. This was for the best. Yet, why did he feel guilty and he was in a bad mood the entire time?

It was not just him, but a dark cloud seemed to fall over the castle like a wet blanket. Not to mention a snowstorm hit Astaria the two days and it contributed to the engulfing gloom and boredom. Issac was tempted to go to Islinda and ask for her help as Maxi suggested, but he couldn’t do it.

It felt cowardly of him to use Maxi’s idea after he pushed her away in a not-so-pleasant way. Aside from that, his pride could not let him ask for help from a mere human, especially for a mess he made. What could Islinda possibly do anyway? He also heard that she and Aldric had a massive argument that led to the dark prince throttling her.

Issac was not surprised by the move, he had seen that coming even though it took a while to happen. The prince was a dark Fae after all and could not change his nature. Issac comforted himself with the thought that Maxi and Aldric were not so different from the monsters in the Tamry forest they hunted. Islinda was not going to survive being Aldric’s guest. At least that explains the shitty weather.

So he left. Not that anyone stopped him on his way out. If the dark prince was going to harm his family for breaking their deal, he had to be there to protect them from him - or spend time with them before he lost them forever. Issac knew he couldn’t defeat Aldric, not even in his wildest dream. It was an impossible feat.

The journey was not a tedious one since his family lived in the capital and not in the autumn court. That would have taken days or hours depending on his mode of transport. It would have been nice though to go on horseback and not foot, but using a horse so much reminded him of the damn horse shifter he had left behind. Also, walking on his feet gave him time to think and drink in the wonderful sight of Astaria.

As common with winter, most faeries out in the streets were dressed heavily aside from the few ones affected by the cold, mostly the Winter Court faeries and few from the Summer Court - not most could manipulate the warmth without exhausting their pool of supply. While they hated Aldric, the Winter Court faeries wouldn’t help but be thankful the dark Fae prince invoked his right to Aimsir. Each court strived the most in their season, and the Winter court has been denied their rights so far.

With the demise of Queen Nova, the Winter Court has not been the same. One would think that with the King of Astaria being a Winter Court Fae, that the court would prosper above the others. Yet they didn’t. Over the years has seen the Summer Court dominating the Fae courts, with the Spring Court rivaling it. Even in the King’s cabinet, there were little to no winter Fae, the positions all populated by summer and spring Faerie instead. It was almost as if the King neglected them since Queen Nova’s unfortunate demise, leaving them to their devices.

Issac was convinced this was more reason Aldric had to visit the winter court. There was no doubt some winter high Fae were abusing their power and cared less about the state of the court or its people. Not to mention if Valerie were king, Aldric would have no choice but to leave for his court where he would lead the winter Faerie - that is if the summer Prince would let him live.

This was done in a bid to reduce the tension between the princes, after all, two kings could not lead Astaria. Although the chosen king of Astaria would influence the four Fae courts, each prince is in control of their seasonal courts. However, judging from the hostility between the summer and Winter prince, Isaac would not be surprised if Valerie either had Aldric imprisoned or killed, or he would exile him to the battlefield, forever.

His sister was the first person Issac saw when he arrived at his family’s home, which was a simple yet comfortable chalet nestled in the hilly area.

Fae were nature lovers and it was not surprising to see homes built in thick forests. However, this was the capital and the structure was much more .... Contemporary. However, it was almost a crime not to see a Fae house surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Issac knew either his sister or mother would be in the backyard working and that was where he went, intent on surprising them. His luck did not fail him and found his sister instead - which was much better. He missed his little sister. Fae had enhanced hearing but Issac kept his amble lightly and in no time covered her eyes with both of his hands.

He felt his sister stiffen at first but she straightened up and wobbled on her feet a little before she giggled, a smile stretching her features.

Issac did not seem to share the same sentiment, he asked bluntly, "Who is Calan?" He barely stopped himself from yelling at her face. freewebnovel-cσ๓
