The living room was a mess after the small fight but the princes didn’t care, sprawled out respectively on the couches and floor in comfortable silence. The mess would be cleared up later by the staff and the little injuries sustained during the fight had already healed with ease.
This was not the palace either, Valerie had escaped to breathe and ended up in Andre’s manor outside the city - he wouldn’t be found here easily. His mother would be mad when she found out that he did not attend to his schedule today, which might have included a meeting with the seamstress to make his attire for the ball.
But then, whether he went for the fitting or not, Valerie was sure the seamstress would come up with something amazing. He rather avoided direct contact with the Fae who would probe him about the ball and his taste in females. The reality of the situation was growing with each day and it left him more anxious than he usually was. The summer prince was usually an embodiment of confidence, but not this time.
"You do know Aldric is on the market as well," Andre finally raised the topic that everyone in the house has been tactically avoiding. But then, Andre was a straightforward Fae and this conversation could not be avoided forever.
Theodore was lying on the couch, the same with Valerie opposite him, unlike Andre on the floor as punishment for mocking them earlier. His head was on the armrest, his leg resting on the other end and the remaining foot touching the floor.
The spring Fae snorted, "As if any high Fae in her right mate would choose him."
"You never know." Andre disagreed, "I stumbled upon a gossip one time in a tavern and it was about him. Some females heard of his prowess in bed and were curious about him. Curiosity can be a good motivator."
"As expected, only useless low Fae would be interested in him." He said with unbridled disgust in his tone.
Andre did not bother arguing with Theodore anymore. He had a strong dislike for their dark Fae brother and it ran deep even though Aldric has done nothing to him, except defeat his ass an uncountable number of times. So when it comes to Aldric, his brother could not see beyond reasoning.
His eyes roved over Valerie whose face was shielded with his arm and seemed to be asleep when he wasn’t. His pointed ear twitched and that was enough sign for Andre to know he was listening to their conversation.
"I heard rumors that your mother insisted Aldric attend the ball with the human. Doesn’t that sound suspicious?" Andre said to him and though he was greeted with silence,
Valerie could not continue with the act. He flung his arm away, staring at the ceiling with a heavy sigh before he sat up. He opened his mouth to speak only for his brother to beat him to it.
"Perhaps, this might be for the best. The both of you could never have been together anyway. Moreover, the human fits Aldric anyway. A human and a dark prince," Theodore made the insulting remark, bursting into laughter and expecting that his brothers would join him, but the empty looks on their faces were all he needed for the laughter to end.
"You think I want her dead? That I want her with that monster Aldric?!" He growled, lunging at Theodore but Andre held him back.
