Chapter 283: The Library Was Corrupted

Her sight has been molested.

It turned out that Maxi and Issac had been making out when Islinda came into the library. Thinking that it was a Fae, they hid behind the shelves and peered out, trying to find out the identity of the intruder and expecting whoever it was would go away.

However, Maxi had mistakenly pushed down a decorative bottle that Aldric had stolen from the human realm and it shattered, drawing attention to their presence. The best alternative had been for her and Issac to split and it worked until Issac found out that they fussed over nothing.

It was Islinda. Someone they could trust. The human who had come to make their life interesting. She already had an idea of Maxi’s identity so there was nothing to hide from her. Not that Issac had voted for their relationship to be revealed this early to her. But then, could anyone ever stop Maxi once she had her mind set on something?

Islinda had been excited to see Maxi at first, after all, it had been days since she saw the horse shifter she had come to befriend, however, the excitement vanished eventually. How could she be excited when the couples were sharing a table in the alcove with her and practically sucking at each other’s faces.

It had been cute initially. Issac and Maxi? Who could have imagined it? Well, Islinda did have suspicion about the two Faerie but Issac had been cold and hell-bent on clearing the misunderstanding between them. So she eventually waved the speculation aside, moreover, Maxi was secretly a dark Fae and the other Fae courts were against her kind. A relationship with Issac was impossible. But it seems miracles do happen.

Unfortunately, that miracle was beginning to bother Islinda, greatly. The kissing sounds and moans they shamelessly made were distracting and slightly uncomfortable. And while she wouldn’t admit it, Islinda was slightly jealous. While Issac and Maxi were happy, she and Aldric were....

Why think about Aldric at a moment like this, Islinda sighed inwardly. There was nothing like her and Aldric. Sure, there was sexual attraction, but that was all there is to it. Not to mention, she was dealing with Eli, his alter ego, and not the host Aldric, who had made it clear that he wasn’t looking for a relationship but a lover who would warm his bed.

A role she would probably fill in till the damn dark Fae prince found another replacement and kicked her aside just as he did to Rosalind. The thought of such a thing happening made Islinda clench her fist angrily. Even Eli had not made it clear what he wanted from her. He called her princess and kept confusing her. Why bother though, she would be leaving soon.

"Wow, I’m kind of grateful that I’m not that book right now," Maxi’s words snapped her to reality and Islinda realized that she had been holding the pages of the book that now had visible creases.

"Oh." Islinda released the pages, blushing red at her carelessness, "I’m sorry, I got carried away."

"Hmmm, carried away by what?" Maxi who was seated across from her leaned into the table, "Did you fight with Aldric? Is that why you look distracted? And if I may add, furious as well?"

"No." She answered bluntly.

"Then why?" Maxi probed, "I thought after a passionate night, the both of you would be all over each other, the same way I can’t help but get addicted to my shy Fae right here," She smiled, turning to brush her lips across Isaac’s and then, they were kissing again.

This time, Islinda did not just blush because of the shameless amorous couple in front of her but the assertion that she and Aldric had done it. Why was everyone so interested in both of them? Don’t they have something better to do than gossip about her love life? Not that she had one.

Islinda tucked her hair behind her ear, her face flushed, and said, "There is nothing like that."
