Mated To The Cruel Prince novel Chapter 289

Chapter 289: Called To Her

"Alright, that’s enough," Islinda shrugged Eli away when the staring became too much plus the distasteful whispers from the passers-by were beginning to get to her. Was this how it would be if she dated him for real? Could she endure their constant harassment? Wouldn’t Eli use that chance to fulfill his morbid wish of killing them all? And why was she already thinking this far? Islinda shuddered at the thought.

Eli, as stubborn as ever, released her just enough to be able to turn, his arm remained on her waist and when she glanced up, her eyes wandered to his sensual lips and her heart began to race. Why did he have to be so handsome? It made it harder to resist him.

He began to lean in and her stomach did a double flip. However, just as the dark Fae prince was about to brush his lips across hers, Islinda pressed her finger against his mouth and stopped him.

She scoffed, "Nice try."

Then she parted from him and went away, hiding the deep flush that crept up her face.

A smile flitted across Eli’s face as he turned to see her scamper from him. It was kind of cute, he watched the scene in fascination. However, he snapped out of it and shouted after her, drawing attention, "Wait for me, princess!"

Islinda stared at him from over her shoulder, mortified especially when Faeries looked in her direction. She attempted to quicken her steps but Eli easily caught up to her with his longer legs and took her hand in his, intertwining their hands.

"Going somewhere without me, princess?" He asked her knowingly, amused.

"Would you keep it down? This is embarrassing." Islinda cried out, lowering her face.

Eli tugged her forward without warning and she tumbled into him, having no choice but to place her hands on his chest to steady herself. She looked up at him, her mouth parted in surprise.

"What are you doing?" Islinda whispered, self-conscious as he slid his finger underneath her chin and lifted it until his blue eyes pierced through her. By the gods, she forgot how to breathe.

"I’m thinking." He answered.

Islinda swallowed, her throat parched, "Thinking about what?"

"How I wish to scream at the top of my voice. I want the entire realm to know that I’m on a date with an amazing female, yet I would stab out their eyes if they stare too much."

"What?!" Islinda squeaked, her eyes widening in alarm. It was weird but Islinda was both terrified and awed. It was hard to believe that those sweet words were coming from Aldric, it was a different personality but it was still his face. And no, he was not stabbing out anybody’s eyes, not on her watch.

She hit him on the chest, and warned Eli severely, "Don’t even think of it." She added upon seeing his slightly annoying grin, "I mean it. If you touch any Fae tonight, you can forget about future dates."

"Oh. So there’s going to be more dates?" Eli pointed out smugly.

"By the gods, you are insufferable. I’m done with you." Islinda shook her head in exasperation and left him. Must she spell everything out for him? Of course, if he wanted, there would be as many dates as possible.... Oh, she was leaving tomorrow.

Her stomach sank and Islinda frowned at the disappointment that flooded her. Yes, she would break Eli’s trust but would be free. And this conversation wasn’t up for argument, she warred with her conscience.

The both of them walked side by side quietly, their hands brushing against each other’s for a while until Eli snagged her pinky finger with his. She stared down at the action in surprise before fixing her eyes on him, but he looked ahead, acting oblivious to her scrutiny.

Islinda rolled her eyes and was about to comment on that when she felt this sudden pull and halted at once. She couldn’t explain it but it felt like someone or something was calling out to her. It was weird.

"What is it?" Eli asked, being the ever-observant Fae and noticing the change in her demeanor.

She ran a hand through her hair, confused, "I don’t know, I just feel strange...." Her eyes searched around as if trying to pinpoint where she felt the strange push.

"What do you mean you feel strange? Do you feel pain? Some Faeries use bodily fluid to create hexes, tell me did anyone scratch you? Was it that Fae from earlier? Damn it, how could I have been ignorant?" Aldric made a fuss, hurriedly checking her body for said injury, even as his eyes scanned the length of her. His body was rigid and he looked ready to fight anyone that would come after her.

"No, I don’t think..." Islinda was still saying when her eyes fell on a crowd of Faeries gathered at a stall and seemed to be signing up for an event.

"Wait," She left the concerned Aldric and walked over to the crowd, pushing through until she made it to the front.

The first thing Islinda set her eyes on was the cat locked up in a cage. By the gods, Islinda was rendered speechless. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever set her eyes on. A-hem, aside from Eli, of course.

The cat was bigger than any other cat she had seen in the human realm. But even the monstrous size did not deprecate its beauty. The beautiful pure white cat had a majestic coat that shimmered under the Fae light. The fur was long and plush, with silky strands she could already envision stroking all day.
