Mated To The Cruel Prince novel Chapter 290

Chapter 290: Her Black Knight

"What are you doing, human?!" The Fae stared at her with deep contempt and her heart began to pound in her ribcage.

Islinda opened her mouth to speak, but before she could explain herself, the Fae accused her, "Have you come to steal from me? Is that the only thing your kind is good at, taking things that don’t belong to them?"

Now Islinda frowned, furious. How could he accuse her of stealing when he hadn’t given her the chance to explain herself? Was she stupid enough to steal a cat in a cage in front of everyone? Also, how dare he stereotype humans as thieves when his race was no better?

"You should let me go, I had no intention of stealing your cat," She attempted to pull her hand from his tight grip, but he wouldn’t let go and they engaged in a struggle.

"I said, let me go!" She raised her voice. He was beginning to hurt her.

Islinda didn’t need to ask a third time because the Fae was flung from his stall and landed in a heap on the floor, the crowd gasping in shock. Islinda didn’t need to ask who had come to her rescue, it was undoubtedly Aldric, her black knight. This was the second row in a night he was coming to her rescue and to be honest, Islinda was tempted to let him finish off this idiot this time. But then, no blood was to be spilled on her date, remember?

"Eli!" Islinda turned to stop him as usual but Aldric was crouching over the Fae lying fearfully on the ground. He seemed to have a better grasp of his emotion this time seeing he was conversing non-violently with the Fae.

"You heard the lady, didn’t you? She said to let her go, why didn’t you do so earlier? Give me one reason why and I might consider leaving you half alive." He threatened the Fae without blinking an eye.

"Eli, I’m fine –" He cut her short with a dark look her way and Islinda closed her mouth at once. Eli didn’t want her interrupting this time. Damn, this was bad. Perhaps, she should have just ignored the pull and the cat altogether, knowing how prejudiced the Fae were towards her kind and how Eli would react to it.

He faced the Fae, "Talk now, your time is ticking."

However, the Fae had other ideas because he managed to sit up and questioned Eli, "Why are you doing this, sir? You are Fae and should be on my side, "He attempted to play the race card.

"So I should be on your side because we’re of the same kind and deny getting justice for my date? I didn’t know Faeries of Astaria were great comedians." Eli said, laughing dryly.

"Your date?" The Fae turned to look at Islinda with a mix of both horror and disgust. And yes, she saw that one coming.

"Your time is up," Eli told her, and Islinda’s breath caught in her throat, her anxiety building. Only she knew what Eli was capable of and the only reason the crowd watched with anticipation was because they didn’t know his real identity; they would have scattered like the sand of the earth, afraid for their lives.

"What are you talking about, sir?" The Fae was still saying when Eli shifted his attention to her, "Was it your right or left hand that he touched?" He asked.

Islinda pressed her lips together, refusing to let out a word, else he fulfilled whatever dark intention he had in mind. However, she let out the information when she unconsciously massaged her wrist.
