Chapter 326: The Fae Ghost Terrorizing The Castle

Although Islinda was practically done in the kitchen, having prepared the meal she promised Eli, however, she hung around having not fulfilled her motive. Aurelia politely requested she leave and prepare for dinner, however, she refused, claiming dressing up for dinner was not a big deal and she would rather help out in the kitchen.

Thus she was given a small task like dicing the vegetables. Even with the assignment, the Fae kept hanging around and fussing over her as if she was going to chip her hands. What do these Fae think of her? A human child that couldn’t handle a common onion? She was a hunter back in the human realm, this was nothing! Nothing to her!

However, when it became obvious that she wasn’t as careless as they made her out to be, they eventually let her be. Islinda couldn’t blame them though, Eli had made it clear they would answer to him if she were to have even a cut on her finger.

In no time, Aurelia excused herself, and for the benefit of Islinda, announced she had to inspect the other group of Faeries and ensure the preparation for dinner was running smoothly. Thus, Rosalind was left in charge. As soon as Aurelia left, the Faeries broke into loud chattering as if the head Fae had been nothing but an obstacle to their freedom of speech all this while.

Islinda ignored their conversations, battling with nerves upon realizing this was the opportunity she had been waiting for to drug the meal. The foods were placed in various vessels on the kitchen table and once the Faeries were done cooking, they would be taken to the dining hall and served.

"Has anyone seen Lizy?" Islinda’s ears caught on to the conversation because the name was familiar.

"I don’t think I have seen her this morning either. Her bed was so cold as if she had not slept on it last night," said Chaer, the Autumn Fae from earlier.

"I thought it was weird she didn’t come to wake me up. I haven’t seen her all day." The third Fae told her.

"Do you think the shadow Fae took her?"

"What shadow Fae?" Islinda butt in, unable to hold in her curiosity anymore.

The three Fae were startled having not expected Islinda was listening in on their conversation. The leader of the conversation pursed her lips, conflicted.

Islinda looked her in the eyes with a promise, "Whatever you say in here stays. You’re free to speak, I’ll tell it to no one."

The Faeries looked among themselves unsure, until Chaer was the first to take a leap of faith, saying, "Some of the Fae who work in here thinks a vengeful Fae lingers behind these walls."

"A vengeful Fae?" Islinda raised a brow, confused yet intrigued.

"A dead vengeful Fae." Another Fae corrected.

The leader of the Fae urged Islinda to come closer so they gathered around at the corner and spoke in hushed tones, peering over their shoulders once in a while to ensure no one was listening.

"This is not the first time... " Chaer was the one speaking, "but one of the Fae came running into the sleeping quarters claiming she had seen a ghost."

"A ghost?" Islinda frowned, "I thought Fae doesn’t believe in ghosts."

"Exactly. When we die, we move on and rest with our ancestors unless it is the wretched work of a necromancer or witch. However, we told her she must be dreaming considering this hadn’t been happening till the dark Fae’s ...." The Fae trailed off, her frozen gaze connecting with Islinda’s, realizing she was speaking about Aldric in front of his lover.

She gulped nervously.

Islinda smiled broadly, assuring her,

"Go on. You’re safe. "
