Chapter 352: Get Rid Of Her At The Ball

"I think red would be better, bold and dangerous, that’s the kind of passion I want saturating the ballroom on that day. There’s no chance for dullness." Queen Maeve selected from the numerous fabrics handed to her by the Fae committee in charge of the preparation.

Two days was all that was left to the matchmaking ball and she had to ensure that no stone was left unturned. Queen Maeve was investing her whole time on this knowing that it was essential for her precious son Valerie’s future. She would do anything, go to any length to secure that throne for him. Not that the bastard son appreciates her gesture.

It seems that the announcement of the ball only worsened the already frail relationship between her and Valerie. She barely catches a glimpse of Valerie, not to mention that he’s busy at court and she couldn’t exactly demand he forfeited his duty and saw her. Even the other family members at the table noticed the strained relationship with her son and it was quite embarrassing.

But no one dared to question what was going on, not when they were aware of everything.

Islinda.

All of this started with that puny human and the damned bitch has done enough damage that would last a century or two. Fae’s have long lives after all and Valerie couldn’t be mad at her forever. But this wouldn’t be a problem, not after the ball because her son would have no choice but to choose a fiancée and she would ensure wedding preparation follows up immediately. There will be no time for Valerie to chase after the human — if she survives anyway.

She was absorbed with the preparation only for someone to tap her gently on the shoulder and she turned to her handmaiden with an inquisitive look.

"Your majesty, Fae Queen Maeve," She curtsied, "If I may have your attention."

Perhaps, it was the signature look on her face, Queen Maeve quickly straightened up and announced, "This is where I end today’s meeting. If there are other changes to the arrangement, do bring it up tomorrow. Have a nice day," She stood elegantly.

"Tell me you have good news," Queen Maeve dropped her voice to a whisper, her expression blank.

"He has returned and has a message for us." The handmaiden informed her, glancing around to see no one had their attention on them. Even the other Fae attendants kept their eyes down and would not dare to speak a word even if they heard something.

"I guess celebration is in order," She relaxed, "Prepare us a drink then."

"Yes, Your Majesty," The Fae bowed her head and swiftly moved out of the way as the Fae Queen started the walk back to her quarters.

"No one enters," The Queen ordered as soon she walked in, shutting the door closed.

Queen Maeve’s living quarters were spaceful but she knew well to locate her mysterious visitor in the balcony. As soon as her eyes rested on the handsome-looking Fae resting his arm on the stone balustrade and staring out, her features brightened.
