Mated To The Cruel Prince novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44: He Was Not A Shy Fae

"How much for a night?" Isaac asked the innkeeper, holding onto Maximus’ reins.

As much as Issac was mad at the horse shifter for teasing him, he was pretty much protective of her. Not just because Aldric would hang his head on a post if anything happened to his woman. He was a male and it was in his nature to protect his female counterpart

"Ten silver coins for a night." The innkeeper said.

From the greedy glint in her eyes, Issac could tell that it was not the usual price and the woman was taking advantage of him because he was not from around here. But he did not care, the least he wanted to do was draw attention to himself.

Issac reached inside his purse and passed a heavy coin purse to her through the slate in the door. He watched the way the woman’s eyes widened and she almost seemed to salivate.

He said, "I want the best room, far away from human disturbance. As well as care for my horse," Isaac looked at Maximus as he spoke, "You can keep the change as long as you fulfill my requirements."

"Aye, sir. Aye. I would do as you say." The woman announced before calling for a stable boy with a whistle.

The wooden door was finally opened and the stable boy was the first to pass through before the inn owner approached him.

"Dear esteemed guest, this way," She gestured to the entrance, her attitude taking a drastic change now she found out that he had enough coins on him. Earlier, Issac had to knock for a while before she responded to him.

When the stable boy reached for Maximus, he backed from him with a neigh, drawing closer to Issac and it made him worry slightly. Was this her first time being taken to a human stable? He did not think so since Maxi has lived for so long and could pass for an ordinary horse while in the human realm.

The stable boy told him, "Horses bonded to their owners react this way and do not take lightly to strangers. Don’t worry, I will take care of him." The boy smoothed his hand down Maximus’ mane and it took everything in Isaac not to growl at him in warning.

How dare he lay a hand on Maximus, he was not an ordinary horse and was a woman too. However, he had to remind himself that the boy was ignorant of all that and bore no ill intent.

The young boy continued to examine Maximus, "I have to admit, you have a strong horse. What breed is he, sire?" He questioned curiously.

"And I have to admit, this one is touchy-feely and definitely not a shy Fae. I like him." Maxi got into his head again and Issac glared at her.

Was she trying to say the ordinary human was better than him? A Fae? And no, he was not shy!

Issac shifted his glare to the poor boy and thundered," Stop asking and do your job!"

It was clear that he startled the boy from the way he jumped and quickly retreated his hand from Maximus’ mane.

Issac went to bed bare-chested, only waking up later when he felt a shift in the air. His eyes snapped open and he reacted instinctively, attacking the intruder only for him to recognize Maxi. He should have known she wouldn’t stay still. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
