Mated To The Cruel Prince novel Chapter 446

Chapter 446: Resurrection

Devastation washed over Andre as he helplessly watched Islinda fall to her death and he couldn’t do anything. He was too late, unable to save her. His feet were stuck to the ground and he looked frozen for a moment until Andre’s attention was drawn to the assassin who had attacked Islinda.

Leaning over the balustrade where she had thrown Islinda, the assassin clutched her side. Andre felt a mix of pride for Islinda’s brave action, yet a painful constriction in his chest from grief. He refused to admit it but the rational part of him knew that Islinda was gone. And it was because of her!

Filled with anguish and a desire for vengeance, Andre launched himself at the assassin. She retaliated by casting a spell, but Andre, being an experienced fighter, skillfully evaded it. Determined to capture the assassin, he refused to let her escape.

However, the assassin’s move had been a distraction. She leaped over the balustrade, intending to make her getaway. She knew the Autumn prince wanted to get his hand on her and if that happened, it was truly over her.

Without hesitation, Andre followed, leaping after her. As an Autumn Fae, Andre possessed the ability to manipulate wind and communicate with animals. This skill proved valuable as he controlled the wind to prevent himself from free falling, planning to snatch the witch out of the air.

To his surprise, the witch turned mid-air, blasting her magic at him. Andre narrowly dodged the attack, but it grazed him, causing him to freeze momentarily. From a distance, he watched as a purple ripple appeared near the ground, and the assassin plunged onto it, completely vanishing. With the assassin gone, the magical hold on Andre dissipated and he found himself falling at a rapid speed, having lost control of his magic. Just before crashing into the snow, Andre managed to extend his hand, barely breaking his fall as he landed softly on the ground.

Still catching his breath, Andre remained in that position, trying to process the events that had just unfolded. He felt dumb and embarrassed, having been bested by a female.

He felt it the moment that spell hit him, that was not Fae magic, that was witches’s magic. A witch had been the one who attacked Islinda. It hit him at that moment.... Fuck! Islinda.

Pushing himself up from the ground, Andre hurried over to Islinda. Her lifeless body was easy to locate, the blood stark against the snow-covered ground. Falling to his knees beside her, he cradled her face in his hands, panic flooding his system.

Islinda was cold and stiff, snowflakes melting on her face as her unseeing eyes stared into the night sky. Desperately, Andre frantically touched her face, searching for a pulse, but found none. Even if the fall hadn’t killed her, the witch’s stab to her side had likely caused severe internal damage.

"P-Please, Islinda, don’t..." Andre pleaded with desperation. Perhaps if he could take her to Theodore, there was a chance he could revive her. But deep down, he knew it was futile. Islinda was beyond saving. She was dead.

His cries filled the air as tears streamed down his face, a shocking display for an Autumn Fae who had witnessed countless deaths throughout the years without it affecting him. Andre had liked Islinda, not in a romantic way, but she was one of his good friends, even though they hadn’t spent much time together.

Furthermore, what would he tell Aldric? That the human he had been ordered to protect was now gone? Aldric would never accept that. It seemed easier to end his own life before Aldric discovered the truth.

Andre had been overjoyed when he received the note before Aldric unleashed his shadows. Shocked and confused, he couldn’t understand why Aldric would make such a strange request when he was clearly there with Islinda. He had even cashed in his favor to ensure the safety of a human girl.

He thought Aldric might ask for the destruction of the Fae realm or even to betray their brother, Valerie. Andre had mentally prepared himself for that, only to be given the simple task of "keeping Islinda safe" . Those three words had initially filled him with elation, but now they carried a weight of sorrow and failure, as Islinda lay lifeless before him.

Andre continued weeping sorrowfully, holding Islinda’s body to his side. If he couldn’t protect a mere human, who then could he protect? His mother? Himself? If only he hadn’t left for that execution, he would have been able to save Islinda. Aldric went over things he could have done so differently. If only he had a few more minutes, no, seconds, It would have changed a lot of things.

Lost in his grief, Andre didn’t notice the way Islinda’s skin gradually warmed against his touch. He attributed it to the length of time he held her, his own body heat transferring. Moreover, his mind was clouded with grief, leaving him unable to think clearly.

It wasn’t until he heard the faintest heartbeat with his sensitive ears that he lifted his tear-stained face and gazed down at Islinda. His eyes widened in disbelief. How was this possible?

As if in a dream, Andre watched as Islinda’s pale skin flushed with color, transforming her appearance to that of a living human. Her blue lips turned a luscious, rosy hue as her chest rose and fell in a slow, rhythmic pattern.

Completely taken aback, Andre stood there, unsure of what to do. Even though she appeared to be breathing, her eyes remained closed as if in death. But that didn’t last long, as Islinda’s eyes suddenly snapped open and she gasped for air. The breath of life!

And yes! You finally have your Islinda returned to you! Unfortunately, there would be only one Chapter as I have had an exhausting day, and perhaps you’d get your answers in the next Chapter. Well, not all since the mystery is still required to keep this story going (sorry not sorry) Anyway, some of you guys have had conspiracies, let’s see who comes close to the truth. Also yesterday’s Chapter inspired me to write a, novella, one that you all would hopefully enjoy (I featured your comments. Lol) It would be available to read next week after my editor approves if it. Also the thirty Chapter intended novella would be completely free! But as the early birds and my highest privilege readers, here it is! Enjoy!

_____________

I sensed something extraordinary from the moment I awoke today.

Today marked D-day.

The day I would kill off my female lead, and the anticipation sent shivers of excitement through my body.

I go by the pseudonym Glimmy, a moniker familiar to over a thousand readers. Regrettably, they remain oblivious to what awaits them today. I’m on the verge of shattering their picturesque perception, and oddly enough, I find it exhilarating. Call me a psychopath, relishing the demise of a person, even if she’s purely fictional.

After a hasty bath and meal, my stomach full in preparation for this morbid task, I eagerly approached the culmination of months of planning. Over four hundred Chapters had paved the way to this pivotal moment, and impatience coursed through my veins.

Seated on my bed, back against the headboard, laptop perched on my lap, I stretched and cracked my knuckles. A sinister grin etched across my face—time to commence.

Clack, clack.

My fingers danced across the keyboard. For over an hour, I immersed myself in crafting the narrative, detailing the events leading up to that fateful moment. Holding my breath, I typed, my muttered words accompanying each keystroke.

"Deep down, Islinda knew this was the end. The knife remained lodged in her side, and she pleaded desperately for survival.

"Islinda knew she shouldn’t pull out the knife, but she wasn’t going down without a fight. So when the assassin approached her again, she reached out with lightning speed and lacerated the tendons in the assassin’s knee. The assassin screamed in agony and collapsed, and Islinda smiled, knowing she wouldn’t die alone.
