Valerie was fast. Very fast. Faster than a human. She had no choice but to hold on tightly as he ran, things becoming a blur behind them and the cold wind biting into her face so she pressed her face against his back.
He finally stopped and Islinda could not recognize their location. She finally understood why no one was able to find the spring because it was an area of very dense and tangled vegetation. Islinda could not remember the number of times she nearly tripped because of the steep sides. But Valerie always caught her and she learned to walk carefully.
Valerie had to shove and stumble hard on some plants to create a path to pass through and even injured his hands in the process. He claimed he was okay when she asked, lifting a hand that was already healed. Islinda honestly needed time to adjust to his inhumane abilities.
But it was worth it in the end. Islinda gasped at the sight of the unmuddied spring, silvery from its glittering waters. This serene spring offered a relaxing getaway with its stunning greenery scenery.
"Wow...." Islinda breathed.
She happily spun around as she took in the scene. The spring was so hidden away, so isolated in the thick of the woods, and yet, so beautiful.
Islinda went back to Valerie who was looking at her with this affectionate look in his eyes that sent a blush straight to her cheeks.
"I like it," She said, tugging her hair behind her ear and was unable to look Valerie in the eyes. Why was she suddenly shy? They had done so many things together - a-hem!
"You should have your bath," Valerie said, yet her mind already conjured several dirty images in that context. By the gods, Islinda groaned inwardly. What was going on with her? She was behaving like a wolf in heat.
But there was a little problem, the water was cold as it was winter.
"Give me a few minutes, I’ll warm it up," Valerie said, heading over to the edge of the spring water and squatting on his heels. He reached into the water and Islinda watched his hand begin to glow a warm orange.
The scene was so intriguing to Islinda that she went over to his side and squatted with him. Open-mouthed, she watched the snow on the water’s surface begin to melt away. She felt a glow of pride while watching Valerie work. To think that a creature this powerful was interested in her.
Islinda was tempted to scream his name at the top of her lungs, to proclaim her love for him. By the gods, what was wrong with her? Was this what falling in love feels like? She was so happy and light on her feet. It was quite a pity that she couldn’t show Valerie even if she wanted to.
"It’s done. You should have your bath now." Valerie announced, standing up and she rose with him.
"Okay," Islinda said, shivering when he touched her arm and transferred heat to her with his ability. Her core arched instantly.
"I’ll leave for you to have privacy and won’t be far away. Just call for me if you need help," He was just about to leave when she grabbed his arm.
He stared at the gesture before lifting his eyes to look at her.
"What if I don’t want you to leave?"
