Chapter 73: She Was A Murderer

The graveness of the situation dawned on Islinda as she stared at her bloodied hands. The rush of adrenaline and the need to survive had tapered off, leaving her to deal with the consequences of murder all by herself.

What was she going to do?

Even if she explained to the villagers that Remy had attacked and tried to kill her - surely they could see the handprints around her neck - she had not only stabbed Remy once but several times. They could have seen it as an accidental murder and she had done it to survive, but anyone staring at the scene right now could tell she meant to kill Remy. Her step-sister. What other motive could she need to kill her?

No! Islinda shook her head in refusal. She was a good person. She would never hurt a fly, even the villagers knew that. Islinda had no idea what had come over her, but she guessed she finally snapped after years of abuse in Remy’s hands - the late Remy.

No, Islinda clenched her fist in resolve. No one can find out about this. She can’t be tagged a murderer. Perhaps, she can hide the body. She was planning to leave the village anyway and no one else knew about her plans except Belinda. She had only come to get Eli....

Eli. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

That name filled Islinda with so much hatred. He was responsible for all of this. If he hadn’t killed Ryder, then Remy wouldn’t blame her for his death and they wouldn’t have come to this point where she had to murder her - to save her own life.

But even as she tried to deny it, Islinda knew deep inside that even without Eli’s interference, this would have happened. Remy was jealous of her and would have gotten rid of the obstacle in her way of claiming Ryder. Her. They would have gotten to this point, the trickster Fae merely facilitated everything into motion.

Islinda stood up and set to work. She had to hide her body and clean the mess so her step-family would be able to suspect a thing. Madam Alice does not interfere in her eldest daughter’s business and Remy could leave the house for days with no one knowing about her whereabouts. The longest she has ever stayed from home was three days and her mother hadn’t even noticed. If she did, she never said a word.

Before the end of today, she would leave the village and before they would find the body she planned to hide in the backyard, she would be long gone. With the plans of a quiet future going down the drain, Islinda planned to take off as soon as Belinda helped her settle down.

Valerie would have a harder time tracking her down once she goes into hiding, but Islinda believes in their love and he would find her. When he comes back for her, they would have their happily ever after. And surely, he would understand why she killed Remy.

Remy was heavier than Islinda but now she was a corpse, her weight doubled and she could not carry her off the ground. If there was anything Islinda worried about, it was how much time she had left before Madam Alice and Lillian returned home.
