Chapter 819: Wrath Of The Gods

King Oberon, had faced many challenges during his reign, but never had he dealt with as many simultaneous crises as he was now.

For the first time in centuries, he was considering a vacation. He was even tempted to abdicate the throne and pass it on to his heir, but with everything happening, he was starting to doubt whether his chosen successor was even the right choice.

This was no ordinary council meeting, King Oberon could tell when he strode into the room.

Usually, his arrival brought the ministers to an instant hush, but this time, their murmurs continued, filling the room with a low, anxious hum that spoke of irritation, fear, and a tension that could not be easily quelled.

King Oberon didn’t bother making his way to the throne. Today, it felt unnecessary, almost irrelevant. Not when they had such urgent matter at hand. He stopped in the middle of the room, his tall, imposing figure casting a long shadow across the chamber. His sharp eyes scanned the room, taking in the faces of his ministers, many of whom were avoiding his gaze. Those who met his eyes quickly looked away, their discomfort obvious.

Slowly, the murmurs began to die down as the ministers realized the King’s attention was on them. But even as the silence settled over the room, Oberon remained quiet, letting the weight of his presence and the tension in the air do the work for him. The silence stretched on, growing increasingly uncomfortable, until it became unbearable for his ministers.

After what felt like an eternity, Oberon finally spoke, his voice calm but carrying a steely edge. "What is the noise all about?"

His eyes continued to roam the room, but no one dared to speak. Not a single minister made a sound. They exchanged nervous glances, each hoping the other would be the one to break the silence. The king’s question hung in the air, demanding an answer, but the ministers, for all their power and influence, were like schoolchildren caught misbehaving.

The silence might have continued indefinitely, had it not been for the General. He was a Fae known for his bravery, both on the battlefield and in the council room, speaking his mind even when others wouldn’t dare.

"Your Majesty," The general began, asking politely, "why tempt us when you very much called for the meeting?"

When King Oberon lifted a brow, he continued, "Nonetheless, your majesty, it has come to our hearing about the commotion at Prince Andre’s wedding.... ." He paused, studying the king’s unreadable expression before he continued. "It has also come to light that Islinda is a Dark Fae. And she is now mated to Prince Aldric."

The mere mention of Islinda’s name and the fact she was a dark Fae caused a ripple of unease to pass through the room. Oberon’s eyes narrowed slightly. The existence of a Dark Fae in their midst was one thing; that she was mated to his son, Aldric, was another matter entirely. A direct challenge to the to their very survival.
