Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant novel Chapter 16

"Dr. Watson! Come with me!"

The moment Riley was nearly beaten by the patient's family, Teddy yanked her by the wrist and pulled her into the elevator!

As the elevator doors closed quickly, the horrific images of the patient's family howling and waving their fists like madmen were still unfolding in Riley's vision.

Leaning her back against the wall of the elevator, Riley hadn't yet recovered from the fright. The scene just now was too horrible, it was the first time since she became a doctor that she encountered a medical disturbance, and it was so crazy.

Teddy looked at Riley with concern and tried to console her, "Are you okay?"

Riley nodded, "Thank you."

Teddy saw the beads of sweat on Riley's forehead and was still uneasy. "You're not on duty today. Why are you in the hospital? You'd better not show up during this extraordinary period and wait for this storm to pass. They just think female attending doctors are easy to bully."

"In that case, I'll have to prove to them that female doctors aren't easy to bully."

The elevator slowly descended while Teddy's expression stayed frozen. "Are you going to play hardball with these people? Dr. Watson, these families who have just lost their beloved are irrational, so there's no point in reasoning with them! Got it? You shouldn’t take any chances."

Riley glanced sideways at Teddy, who was wearing a white coat and holding a medical record folder. He looked very refined and clearly didn't want to make a big deal out of this case.

"Now that it has happened, I can't just sit back and do nothing. I'm the patient's attending doctor, so I can't avoid responsibility at any time. Thank you for your help just now, you may go on patient rounds now."

Midway through the elevator's descent, Riley pressed a numbered button and left the elevator earlier.

"Dr. Wilson, don't be impulsive! Dean Houston and Director Patrick are working on a solution!"

But with the closing of the elevator doors, Teddy's voice was all isolated in the elevator

Riley went directly to Boris's office.

Seeing that the comer was Riley, Boris pushed his glasses on the bridge of his nose, "Why are you here? Are you coming to the hospital at this time to be beaten alive by the patient's family?"

Riley bowed to express her gratitude, "Dean Houston, thank you very much for explaining on behalf of me just now, but the deceased was my patient. I can't shirk my responsibility, and I have an obligation to explain the facts. If I don't come forward, it will only make people think that the hospital is hiding something, so I want to examine the corpse."

Boris narrowed his cloudy eyes sharply, held his glasses in one hand and stared at Riley like a ghost. "Riley, are you crazy? Examining a corpse? I've already read through the patient's medical records. He was indeed admitted to the hospital for acute myocardial infarction and had no other medical history."

Riley nodded, "I know, but I can't guarantee that the patient didn't have other symptoms before the outbreak."

At this time, the chief of the internal medicine department, who was in over his head because of the medical disturbance, also rushed to Boris's office. When he saw that Riley was also there, he rubbed his half-bald head and said, "Dean Houston, the patient's family is burning joss paper at the entrance of the hospital. They've even put up the banners, apparently trying to blackmail us."

Three of them stood by the window and looked down at the banner hanging in front of the hospital. A large number of joss paper ashes were scattered at the hospital entrance, while the patient's family was dressed in white mourning clothes, kneeling and lamenting at the entrance in an exaggerated display.

Riley frowned and said, "It seems they are really after the money. Dean Houston, Director Patrick, if we concede and give them money to buy silence, we will only encourage this unhealthy tendency. This approach is only a temporary solution and doesn't cure the root cause in the long run."

Boris took off his glasses and wiped the corners of his eyes, "What is your solution to this matter? Tell me what you think."

The faces of Freya and her mother suddenly came to Riley’s mind. All those years, it was because she didn't want to fight for anything that they kept stepping on her shoulders to climb to the pinnacle of power in the Watson family.

Damn it!

"I insist on an autopsy of the deceased's body and ask a forensic expert to be a notary. If it was a mistake in my treatment, I will take responsibility and will definitely not cause any trouble to the hospital. However, if it is the patient's personal problem, I will ask the family to apologize to the hospital, and will never be perfunctory about this matter."

Riley's words were reasonable. Boris and Simon looked at each other and agreed after consideration, but the problem was, "The family of the deceased may not agree to an autopsy...Riley, you'd better be mentally prepared."

Riley nodded, even though it would be difficult, she would never allow anyone to sling mud at her and vilify her reputation.

Simon said, "It's certainly good that Dr. Watson has an abhorrence of sin and couldn't turn a blind eye to it, but…based on the current situation, do you think..."

"Director Patrick, a man of moral integrity doesn't fear any slanderous attack. Please don't worry, I'll deal with it."

Boris then made a phone call, "Security team, send ten men over to escort Dr. Watson."

"Unscrupulous doctors, trampling on human lives!"

"Give me back the life! Give me back my hard-earned money!"

Riley walked out of the outpatient building with a few security personnel. The hospital courtyard was hung all over with white banners. These white cloths with black writing were even stained with "blood" that had been splashed with scarlet ink.

At the beginning, there were only about seven family members, but at this point…

Well, now there were about seventy people!

The patient was a native of JD City. According to this number, it appeared that his family had gathered people they knew from several kilometers around.

"Thump!"

An egg was smashed fair and square on Riley, and the yolk stained her white shirt and soiled her entire chest!

"Give me back the life!

"Bitch doctor, get the hell out of the hospital!"

"Black-hearted hospital, return our hard-earned money!"

The family roared out of control again as the second egg smashed to Riley and was quickly deflected by a security guard with his own back!

"Dr. Watson, this isn't going to work. You go inside and leave this to us."

Riley wiped the egg yolk off her body and then looked at the people who were crazy about money without batting an eye...

At this moment, in the office on the top floor of MKB International Corporation. Euan, who had returned to his office after a meeting, unintentionally turned on the display screen hanging on the wall, and when his finger was about to switch the channel to financial news, his action was stopped forcibly by a woman's face on the screen.

Riley, who had been pelted by the eggs, and dozens of protestors looked at each other. In a serious and biting voice she said, "I'm Riley, Ernest's attending doctor…"
