Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 51

Charlotte replied curtly, "I don't know them…"

Brian narrowed his eyes slightly. "If that's true, why were you so bothered by what happened last night? Not to mention, Kayden stood up for you, and I even made it clear where I stood and asked them to apologize to you."

Normally, even the most hot-tempered person would let it go when someone showed that much sincerity. But Mandy's reaction was nothing like what he had expected.

"And another thing…" Brian paused, carefully choosing his words. "I can't shake the feeling that you seem strangely familiar."

It wasn't something he could explain easily. Sometimes, she just reminded him of someone. He didn't know who, but the feeling was there.

Charlotte didn't know what was going through his mind. But when she heard those words, her heart skipped a beat, and a sudden wave of panic washed over her. Was he starting to suspect something?

That couldn't be. She had been extremely cautious from the beginning. Even Henry hadn't figured her out, and Brian was blind. He couldn't have noticed anything…

Her nerves flared for a second, but she quickly composed herself. She replied calmly, "Really? I'm pretty sure we've never met, Mr. Norman. Maybe you're confusing me with someone else?"

But Brian suddenly asked, "How old are you? Are you married?"

She could not tell the truth, so she made something up. "I'm pushing 40, divorced, and raising three kids. Give it a few more years and I might be a grandma. Why do you ask?"

Brian seemed caught off guard for a moment before saying, "Really? I really couldn't tell…"

Charlotte remained calm. "You can't judge someone's age by their voice. Some people naturally sound more mature and others younger. It's not a reliable marker."
