Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife novel Chapter 22

“Mummy, were you just on the phone with Aunt Rachel?” Emily who sat beside Diana was holding a box of vanilla-flavored ice cream.

“Emily, do you miss Aunt Rachel?” Diana asked gently.

Emily nodded her head.

In the past, when her mother was still living overseas, Aunt Rachel would often take her and her brother out to play together. However, she felt lonely now as Aunt Rachel didn’t stay in Sliwell.

Austin said coldly, “I think it’s not that you miss Aunt Rachel. You want Aunt Rachel to bring you out and play with you, right?”

Emily glared at her brother who revealed her intention. She snorted coldly and hugged the box of ice cream in her arms tightly.

“Mummy, you have something to instruct me and Emily, right?” Austin pretended not to see his sister’s gesture. His voice was calm as ever, “The class teacher and the principal have both approached me today. Is there something wrong?”

Diana was shocked as Austin was so intelligent. She patted Austin’s head, “Wait for mummy for a while.”

With that, Diana got up and went to her room to get the photos.

Emily was puzzled and scooped a large spoonful of ice cream into his mouth, “Um, Austin, how did you know that something is wrong.”

The class teacher and the headmaster had also approached her today, but she didn’t anything was wrong.

Austin snorted as she curled up his fingers and flicked Emily’s head, “You’re so silly.”

Emily quickly went back to the living room and placed the photos she had received today on the table.

She didn’t want or need to hide it from her two children.

Austin and Emily were very quirky and intelligent. Diana felt that they would be safer if she told them someone was secretly watching them.

Austin picked up the photo and studied it seriously.

After a few minutes, Austin raised his little face, “Someone followed us when we went out last weekend?”

One could clearly know that the photo was taken secretly with a pinhole camera looking at the angle the photo was taken.

He guessed that someone must have sent the photos to mummy and she purposely brought them back.

A hint of caution flashed across his large dark eyes which looked like Brooklyn’s eyes, “Someone wants to threaten mummy with us, right?”

His voice was calm and he was not like a six-year-old child at all.

He put the photo down on the table and jumped off the sofa. Then, he went back to his room on his short legs and came into the living room a short while later with his laptop in his arms.

He turned on the laptop and located the playground Diana had taken them to during the weekend via the website. His fingers tapped rapidly on the keyboard. After ten minutes, he slowly pressed the return key and spoke like an adult, “I found it. It’s a private detective agency in Sliwell. Only their detective was at the same playground as us last weekend.”

Diana was dumbfounded.

It was too fast for Austin to find the identity of the detective. What exactly had Austin done to find out who was secretly filming them?

She had just asked Rachel to help her find out who the person behind it was.

Then, she saw Austin who looked like Brooklyn a lot tapped his fingers on the keyboard again.

After a while, he looked like he realized something and gave a “tsk” sound.

“No wonder, it’s that evil woman doing all this again.” Putting his laptop on the table, Austin turned around to look at his mother and sister who looked surprised and explained it with a shrug, “Mummy, the person who sent the detective to follow us and sent you the photos is obviously your sister.”

“Why is it that bad woman again!” When Emily knew that it was Mirabelle doing something bad, she clenched her fists. “She’s so evil! I really want to tell this to daddy!”

When Diana wanted to continue her conversation with Rachel, her mobile phone at work vibrated.

When Rachel heard her phone ringing, she smiled and said, “You are so busy that someone is looking for you to make perfume again, right? I won’t bother you then.”

Diana felt it was strange as she wondered who would be looking for her to make perfume in the middle of the night.

She had clearly stated on her website that all appointments could only be made during the day and she would not accept any request after 8 p.m.

Diana picked up her mobile phone in confusion. When she saw the caller ID, her eyebrows furrowed.

How could it be Brooklyn?

Diana picked up the phone, “Mr. Powell, why are you calling me so late.”

Brooklyn said in a husky voice, “Faster come to the company for an urgent meeting. You have one hour from now on.”

Diana was stunned when she heard his words.

She lifted her head and glanced at the clock in the living room.

It was half past eleven.

“Mr. Powell, it’s eleven thirty now. It will take me at least an hour and a half to drive to the office! Why are you organizing a meeting in the middle of the night! Am I getting paid overtime?”

Diana was angry as she took off the mask on her face.

She hadn’t had a good rest for a few days in a row, and it was so hard for her to have a skin treatment. Therefore, she felt really angry that Brooklyn told her to go back to the office for a late-night meeting.
