"Come on, I am just a photographer! I am not being as highly logical as a detective. Instead, you are being too innocent. But it means that your grandma raised you well! No wonder you miss her. She was such a nice grandma…" his voice sounded soft and gentle. It really made her feel convincing.
Verena felt warm in her heart and smiled as her eyes seemed to be lit up, "You must have used to be a detective or a psychologist!"
Eden smiled and he felt much better down his stomach. At this moment, the driver said, "Sir, lady, we have arrived."
It was still raining and it seemed to be getting heavier. Raindrops kept streaming down the window like a mini waterfall.
Verena shifted her gaze and soon took off her coat. Then she stopped Eden, who was about to get off, "Take it! Lift it up to keep out the rain!"
Eden looked at her and smiled to refuse, "No, thanks!"
"Come on, take it! You are suffering from fever and stomachache! If you keep yourself in the rain still, you will definitely feel worse!" before he could utter again, she tucked the coat in his hand, "Don't play tough! Just take it!"
He was a bit amused and smiled, "I will be home quite soon! Just take it back!"
Without arguing, she suddenly pushed him off the taxi before he noticed. Then he squinted while waving her hand, "Bye, Mr. Photographer!"
Eden smiled while looking at the coat in his hands.
As the taxi went far away, she murmured, "It seems that he is not from the Lawson Family!"
"Lady, where are we going now?" the driver said.
She collected herself and told him to go to the hospital where her father was kept.
From now on, she needed to work on the daytime. So she barely had time to visit her father. Now she wanted to take the chance to see him.
Her father, Ford Moore, was now lying on the bed in a VIP Ward. A carer was washing his feet while the other one was massaging him.
The room was filled with light fragrance of flowers instead of the smell of disinfectant.
When seeing that, she felt bitter but also lucky. She could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
That was her own choice. So she had to keep on!
After talking to her father on the bedside for quite a while, she then left.
When she went back to the Lawson Mansion, it was 11:00 PM. After bathing, she lay on the bed with her eyes closed. But she felt hungry.
"Alas…" she sighed and didn't get downstairs until quite a while later. Then she headed to the kitchen.
Luckily, the fridge was filled with all kinds of food—vegetable, chicken and fish.
As the cook of the Lawson Mansion had been offering western food only, she was worried if there were only steaks in the fridge.
To be honest, she didn't like western dishes.
Verena tied up apron and then slice the beef perfectly.
