Matthew's face was twisted with rage and covered in blood, charging at Miranda like a wild beast. He wrapped his hands around her neck and squeezed with all his strength. "Bitch! Die, you bitch!"
"Help, someone, please."
Miranda's face turned a ghastly shade of blue, her eyes bulging as she struggled desperately, but the onlookers merely watched with cold indifference, no one stepping forward to save her.
Just as Miranda beneath him was about to suffocate, Matthew released his grip. She tried to flee, only to be brutally shoved down the stairs by him.
The steps of the Iris Garden Venue stretched over thirty feet, and Miranda tumbled down, crashing heavily onto the floor in the middle of the hall, her clothes in tatters and lying motionless as if lifeless. The crowd gasped in shock.
Xanthea gasped too, her amber eyes welling up with tears as if scared by the brutal scene.
"That's so scary."
"Xan, don't be scared!"
"They're just biting each other back. They got what they deserved!"
"Mhm."
Xanthea snuggled into the embrace of her aunts, hiding the smile that she couldn't suppress.
It felt so good!
In her previous life, watching them push her down the stairs filled her with hatred. Now, seeing them turn on each other and fight to the death was utterly satisfying!
From the balcony, Orion watched the cunning little fox in the crowd, her performance so vivid it was as if a few fluffy tails were wagging proudly behind her. She was adorable. Amused, a soft smile touched his dark eyes.
"Xan, Xan, believe me, it was Miranda who framed me!"
"I don't love her, not at all. My heart belongs only to you, only you."
After shoving Miranda down the stairs, Matthew, like a beaten dog, crawled to Xanthea's feet, begging for forgiveness.
Xanthea frowned in disgust as his bloodied, dirty hands reached for her skirt.
With a loud "thump," he was kicked down the steps again, prompting another round of gasps from the onlookers.
"Ah!"
Xanthea had been pretending before, but now she was genuinely startled.
She turned her head and saw Orion?
When did he get here?
