My Beloved Has Risen from Death's Embrace novel Chapter 371

Xanthea, now in the clutches of the "wolf," ate the seafood soup he had cooled and fed to her, feeling that he was becoming increasingly clingy.

"Orion, I've got a question for you."

"What is it?"

"When did you start liking me?"

Orion paused for a moment, gently stirring the chowder with the spoon. "What do you think, Xannie?"

If she was without the knowledge of their past lives, she would've guessed it was during the rehearsals, perhaps falling for her through acting as Maximus.

But in their past life, where he went to the extremes of grave-digging, killed Matthew and Miranda, and even committed suicide, she had always assumed there was another reason, as they were not that familiar with each other.

Yet now, pondering over it, she couldn't help but wonder if he liked her all along.

Recalling everything in detail, there were signs everywhere: He bought Realm of Illusions for her, silently investigated the real culprit behind the explosion incident, jumped into a lake to save her, and even planted a mountain of irises just for her.

Cultivating a mountain full of irises seemed far-fetched to her because, although irises thrive in sunlight, they shy away from the heat, requiring soil moisture levels to be maintained at 70% to survive. Planting them on an arid, hot mountain would demand an immense amount of manpower, resources, and effort, not to mention the care for such rare and delicate varieties. If someone could accomplish that, what couldn't they do?

"At my coming-of-age party?"

Was it love at first sight, coupled with her heroism, that sparked his affection?

Orion shook his head, leaving Xanthea surprised. "Then it couldn't have been three years ago, right? When I was surrounded by those thugs?"

That seemed unlikely.

She was only 15 at the time. But then again, it was the prime time for a teenage crush, especially considering his maturity compared to his peers.

"No, it wasn't."

"Huh?!" Xanthea was even more surprised. "Then, when was it?"

Orion's gaze softened, his eyelashes flickering with a serious light. "If I said it was when I was five, would you believe me?"
