Chapter 63 Omnipotent but Modest
When Natalie gripped the steering wheel and pursed her lips into a straight line, her mind was racing at high speed to judge the current situation.
If she immediately turned on the emergency braking system to stop the car, it would take 1.7 to 2 seconds. But it did not include the time she would spend slamming the brakes. Sudden braking at a speed of 120 mph would cause a sideslip. And according to the speed of the truck, it would crash into their car in 3 seconds.
So, Natalie turned the steering wheel to the right without hesitation and tightly pressed her right foot on the accelerator, not daring to let go in the slightest.
Maggie was the heroine of this novel. Please have some Character Shield!
Three seconds later, the truck passed behind them and blocked the car following them.
Maggie almost vomited, and her head banged heavily on the car window. When she looked up, she saw another car coming over and shouted, "Be careful!"
Natalie let go of the accelerator, lightly tapped the brakes to evade it, and turned the steering wheel. Then, their car merged into the traffic flow of the rush hour.
It was not until then did she dare to relax a little. She had been too nervous, so her brain was rapidly secreting dopamine, and her forehead was beaded with sweat.
So, she took out a tissue to wipe off her sweat and said in a hoarse voice, "It's okay now. We have gotten rid of that car."
Maggie's pupils dilated when she leaned back in the passenger seat and kept holding on to the armrest. After a while, she said, "Are you sure?"
Then, she looked back and saw the sun was setting. The evening glow dyed the sky crimson like the rouge on a girl's face. Now, she felt like a lucky survivor from a holocaust.
Three seconds later, she screamed in the passenger seat like a groundhog.
Natalie resisted the urge to roll her eyes and asked, "What's wrong?"
Maggie replied loudly, "I was so scared. I thought the truck would crash into our car. I didn't expect we could survive. You are amazing!"
Natalie smiled, "Am I cool?"
"Yes!" She gave Natalie a thumbs up with an admiring face.
If she hadn't met Nat, she would have gotten into big trouble. Fortunately, Nat had saved her.
Natalie thought, "I am not only being the villain but also doing what the hero should do."
Maggie asked in confusion, "Why are you so good at driving? I've never seen you drive before."
"I'm modest, so I don't like to show off. But I'm omnipotent!"
Maggie was speechless because she had not expected her to praise herself like this.
After calming down, Natalie asked, "Who have you offended recently?"
Maggie had never revealed her relationship with the Ramsey family in the entertainment circle because she wanted to succeed with her efforts. But sometimes, people could not succeed no matter how hard they worked.
She replied sullenly, "I don't know!"
Hearing this, Natalie looked sideways at her with sharpness in her eyes.
Maggie leaned back in the passenger seat and said, "My drama has been launched recently, and many people are scolding and threatening me in various places every day. Maybe that man is an anti-fan?"
Natalie shook her head and sighed, "The man said someone hired him to teach you a lesson, right?"
While driving, she raised one hand, circled it near her ear, and continued, "Think about it carefully. Maybe some of your peers in the entertainment circle are jealous of your role?"
Maggie nodded thoughtfully.
Suddenly, she raised her head and asked, "Are you injured?"
When Natalie bowed her head, she saw her calf bleeding profusely.
Under the high nervousness, she had forgotten about the pain just now.
Looking at the wound worriedly, Maggie said with a deep frown, "Let's go to the hospital!"
"No need!" Natalie refused and asked, "What if you are photographed?"
"But you..."
