Yeah, they're not even step-parents. Why would they treat their biological daughter like this?
Ayan made a faint hum, his expression deepening. He didn't voice his thoughts but just looked at Fletcher Talia. "I'll check on Cami and Grandpa."
"Sure, go ahead. Comfort Cami as much as possible, don't let her be sad. If the Armstrong family treats her badly, we should treat her even better, understand?"
"I do," Ayan said with a faint smile. He then headed towards the room of the old Simpson.
With Ayan gone, only Talia and Fletcher remained in the hall.
Fletcher calmly said, "I wonder what the Armstrong family will do after today."
"Are you worried they'll continue spreading rumors like they did this morning?"
"It's not out of the realm of possibility." Fletcher had a serious expression, and his voice was low and deep. "I'm not so concerned about their actions endangering the Simpson family or Simpson Group. Simpson Group has adhered to the rules for so many years and hasn't done anything out of bounds. Even if they want to target Simpson Group, it can withstand an investigation. I'm just worried about what they might do to Cami."
"What can they do? Cami has Ayan with her; they wouldn't dare."
"It's always good to be cautious." Fletcher's face grew even darker, and he recalled the advice given to him by the old Simpson. His mood darkened even further.
However, Talia didn't notice his unease. She simply furrowed her brow slightly and spoke in a dispassionate tone, "I won't discuss it with you. I'm going to check on Timmy. I wonder if he's asleep at this hour?"
Since Timmy was entrusted to Talia, she had devoted most of her time to him. It didn't mean she lost her personal space, but instead of attending various gatherings alone as before, she now took Timmy with her. The other wives observed this and grew envious. They began to rush her to get married and have children and become grandparents.
Talia's friends also loved Timmy very much, and their affection was genuine. This made Talia wonder: "Look at the Armstrong family. They're here at our house, but they haven't expressed any interest in seeing Timmy. To them, where is Cami, and where is Timmy? That's why I'm a hundred percent against letting Cami go with them. These people are only concerned with their interests, so they can't possibly treat Camille and Timmy well."
The more Talia thought about it, the more she felt this way. Who doesn't cherish their grandchildren? After all, they are the children of their own daughter. Shouldn't they love them even more? Every time she thought about Brody and Page's expressions, it made her uncomfortable. She silently told herself that she had to be doubly good to Camille and Timmy.
Talia was indeed a person with a good heart.
In the old Simpson's bedroom.
After Camille had accompanied the old Simpson back to the room, the old Simpson had Kit get some water and close the door. The room was left with only the old Simpson and Camille.
The old Simpson sat in a armchair, and Camille took a seat on a stool. She gazed at the old Simpson and asked, "Grandpa, are you okay? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
The old Simpson shook his head and looked at Camille. "Cami, have they been trying to contact you a lot lately?"
Camille was slightly puzzled by the old Simpson's question but nodded truthfully. "Yes, they did reach out, but I blocked them. So, I can't contact them, and it's quite challenging even if I wanted to."
The old Simpson responded, "That's good. As long as you're not being mistreated, there's no need to worry about others' opinions and feelings all the time." His words showed his partiality and protection for Camille.
