"Not exactly showing off, just stating the facts," Camille said with a serious expression.
Ayan snorted, "Fine, even you know how to hit me where it hurts. Grandpa doesn't care, parents aren't fond, even my sister avoids me. They thought getting a wife for me would be a solution, but turns out, she's on their side too."
He said it with such seriousness, as if he were genuinely pitiable, but it only made Camille burst into laughter.
Camille replied casually, "You're truly pitiful."
"Yeah, I am. So, would you consider being nice to me?" He leaned towards Camille, his voice gradually becoming husky. The huskiness made Camille instinctively push him away, creating some distance between them.
Camille's reaction caused Ayan to pause slightly. He asked, "So now I can't even get close?"
Camille pursed her lips, feeling soft at his various antics. She pretended not to understand and replied, "I'm tired; I want to sleep now."
Without waiting for Ayan's response, she quickly lifted the covers and lay down.
Seeing her act as if she had encountered a ferocious beast, Ayan's expression turned particularly unpleasant. Especially his pitch-black eyes revealed a hint of incredulity, soon overwhelmed by resignation. After all, she was the person he loved, what could he do? Spoil her!
Camille made sure he wouldn't do anything else before softly saying, "Goodnight!"
Ayan became increasingly helpless; he couldn't do anything to her. In the end, he could only respond, "Goodnight."
As they had to accompany old Simpson to the hospital early the next day, everyone went to bed early.
The next morning, Camille and Ayan got up around six o'clock, and after dressing up, they headed directly to the Simpson's mansion.
When they returned to the Simpson's mansion, old Simpson had just gotten up. Talia had already instructed the kitchen to prepare breakfast, and since Aria stayed at the mansion last night, breakfast was as lively as dinner.
During breakfast, the atmosphere was harmonious, bringing great joy to old Simpson. At his age, he didn't ask for much; he only wished for a harmonious family, good health for his loved ones, and nothing else mattered.
Watching everyone get along so well, old Simpson felt particularly content. Remembering the events of the previous night, he said, "Last night, I gave Cami a wooden box. You all know about it, right?"
All eyes turned toward old Simpson. Ayan took the opportunity to ask, "What's inside the wooden box? I begged all night, but she wouldn't show me. Grandpa, you didn't give her some treasure, did you?"
Hearing Ayan's words, old Simpson's expression instantly changed.
Talia and Aria couldn't help but hold back laughter because Ayan had a knack for hitting old Simpson's sore spots every time.
Fletcher casually glanced at Ayan, knowing that Ayan was intentionally trying to get old Simpson to speak more. He cooperatively reminded Ayan, "Grandpa can give Cami anything. Why are you so curious? Let me tell you, don't even think about whatever Grandpa gave Cami. It's for her, not for you."
Aria loves teasing her brother, and she wouldn't miss a good opportunity like this. She quickly spoke up, "Exactly! How could you do this, brother? Are you jealous that Grandpa gave something to my sister-in-law? You need to broaden your perspective and not be so petty!"
Ayan glanced at his teasing sister, huffed lightly, and asked, "Don't you want to know what it is?"
"I don't want to know," Aria shook her head without a hint of curiosity. She leaned her head gently on Talia's shoulder and said to Ayan, "Because I think Grandpa can give anything to Cami, so I'm not curious at all. I'm not jealous either. Mr. Simpson, you should be more generous. How can you be so stingy?"
Thanks to Aria's words, Ayan had now transformed into a petty and envious man.
