Upon seeing this, Preston naturally continued, "Mr. King, what I mean is, I can help you, assist you. Currently, Mr. King is cooperating with Simpson Group, but as far as I know, Ayan is also putting pressure on the project manager, Mr. King, to the side. For this project, Mr. King has sacrificed a lot for King Group, but Ayan, on the other hand, is enjoying Mr. King's benefits while also starting to cooperate with Tillery's Corporation abroad under the name of Simpson Group."
Preston's implication was clear - he was telling Mario that Ayan's actions were merely exploiting him, using him for the benefit of Simpson Group while plotting against Mr. King.
Seeing no response from Mario, Preston continued with a harsher tone, "Mr. King, in my opinion, Ayan's actions are related to Rex as well. After all, he knows best about the situation between you and Rex, and he understands it the most. Would he really betray a close brother he grew up with just for a project?"
Mario finally spoke, indifferently asking, "Is the significance of Mr. Walker telling me all this to provoke my dissatisfaction with Rex and Ayan and then smoothly reach some kind of cooperation with you?"
Preston immediately denied, "Mr. King, I have no such intentions. I simply feel that it's unfair for Mr. King. Will Mr. King really not mind at all?"
Mario just let out a cold snort, his tone extremely indifferent, "Whether I mind or not is my personal matter. If Mr. Walker wants to use me against Ayan, his plans have gone awry. I will not cooperate with you because currently, I have a partnership with Ayan. Moreover, comparing Ayan and Mr. Walker, I think not only me, but everyone would unhesitatingly choose Ayan, right?"
Mario's counter-question made Preston instantly fall silent, as if there was no sound, just tranquility.
But Mario didn't care whether Preston was unhappy or dissatisfied, he simply asked, "If Mr. Walker has nothing else, let's end it here!"
With that said, the call was abruptly disconnected.
Feeling the coldness of the exchange, Preston was truly at a loss.
But Mario didn't give him any chance, even blocking his number and instructing his secretary, "Investigate this Preston. If he tries to contact me in the future, refuse him, don't give him any opportunity."
The secretary was slightly stunned but nodded quickly.
As for Preston, he didn't need much investigation to understand this person. After all, he had been the talk of the town and had done many sensational things.
In a few words, the secretary briefed Mario on Preston's general situation. When she finished speaking, she couldn't help but ask curiously, "Mr. King, Preston seems to act without reservations. If he intends to cooperate with you, he might be able to set a trap for Ayan and Rex."
"Just setting a trap. If they manage to get out of it and both families team up against me, wouldn't Preston be the one to benefit? You just said Preston can get whatever he wants now, so why should I have any dealings with him? To say the least, he doesn't even deserve to cooperate!"
Mario coldly scoffed. Perhaps Preston indeed had the capability to trip up Rex, but that was just a trip. Collaborating with Preston would only mean aligning with someone like him who had no boundaries.
So Mario wouldn't cooperate with him, lowering his own status and dignity.
Preston would never know Mario's judgment, and he probably wouldn't be able to contact Mario again in the future.
Mario's rejection left him feeling awful. The consecutive hang-ups on the call made his mood extremely gloomy, his face flashing with intense coldness.
Was he just going to leave it at that?
Not many people truly understood him. Perhaps no one could come forward and claim to have an absolute understanding of him. Maybe the person who understood him the most was himself!
