My Ex-husband Begs Me Back (Ayan and Camille) novel Chapter 1393

Chapter 1393: Storm

She was well aware that everything Camille said was for her own good, and for her future benefits. If Camille wanted to take control of anything in Armstrong Corp, she didn't need to do all this. She could handle it coldly and leave all the problems for her to deal with when she returned.

But Camille didn't do that, and what Ayan did was only because of Camille's sake that he was willing to help. She understood and was aware of everything.

She looked at Camille with a faint sense of apology in her eyes, but before she could speak, Camille spoke, "Let's rest for now. We don't expect you to make a decision right away. Of course, it's necessary to agree to the involvement of the medical examiner tonight, as there is no time to delay. They won't give us time to think. If we weren't worried that things might happen quietly, we wouldn't have kept the news of finding mom a secret until you returned."

It was all just to guard against Brody. Of course, all this was Ayan's idea; she didn't think so much.

Camille looked at Grace and continued, "Don't think too much. It will take several more days for the medical examiner to be involved. You just need to make a decision before then. The next two days, just rest well. As for the Armstrong family, Ayan has already arranged it so that outsiders won't have contact with them."

Grace nodded understandingly and looked gratefully at Camille and Ayan.

Grace and Horace were assigned to a nice guest room on the second floor, which was already cleaned and provided with fresh clothes, towels, and other necessities.

Upon returning to the room, Grace had no intention to sleep. She sat on the sofa, somewhat unsure, and asked Horace, "Was my reaction a bit too distant just now? Cami is looking out for me, and standing by me. I know everything they've done, but I couldn't accept it for a moment. But I'm afraid I might hurt Cami, will I?"

"You won't. They understand who you are and know that you're not capable of such things, nor do you have any other intentions. So they won't misunderstand you. Just don't overthink it, okay?" Horace looked at Grace, realizing they hadn't had a proper conversation since he arrived.

Looking at Grace now, he felt like she had lost so much in just a few hours, appearing dull and lifeless.

Seeing Grace like this made him feel sorry for her. He gently hugged her, his voice filled with tenderness, "Grace, none of us wanted this to happen. Remember, don't blame yourself or feel guilty. If there's anything you can't tell them, tell me. I'm not just your boyfriend, I'm your friend too, okay?"

Grace nodded lightly. She raised her hand and grabbed the corner of Horace's shirt, whispering, "I know. Don't worry, I'll be fine. I need to get stronger now, there are still many things waiting for me to handle!"

"I'm relieved to hear you say that. But remember, taking care of yourself comes first in everything you do."

"Yes, don't worry!"

Grace nodded again. Horace then held her hand and walked her to the bathroom door, saying, "It's getting late, and you must be tired. Take a bath and get some rest."

Grace pursed her lips. It was now dawning on her that she would be sharing a room with Horace that night.

The temperature on her face rose unconsciously, and she dared not look directly into Horace's eyes anymore.

Pursing her lips again, she took the clothes Horace handed her and walked into the bathroom.

After Grace went to take a bath, Horace didn't stay in the bedroom either. He left the room and headed to the end of the hallway, pushing open the door to the balcony outside, where he saw Ayan's figure.

They had agreed to meet alone and have a chat.

Ayan turned around, handed him a cigarette, and the two quietly smoked for a while. Horace checked the time and then spoke, "Mr. Simpson, considering the current situation of the Armstrong family, Armstrong Corp is likely to be greatly affected. So, I wanted to ask if you have any good suggestions?"
