Grace knocked on Brody's study door. Brody was already angry with Grace for agreeing to let the coroner get involved and not stopping Camille from joining forces with Ayan to control the Armstrong family. With Ayan's people guarding the house these past few days, Brody had nowhere to vent his frustrations. So, when he saw Grace, he looked at her with anger.
"What are you doing here? Do you still remember that this is your home? Do you think you can rely on Camille just because your wings are strong now? Let me tell you, this is just the beginning. Camille might just be using you. Don't forget, your relationship is not good. She's only cozying up to you because of Armstrong Corp."
Brody's words were filled with anger and displeasure, his face betraying a cold expression. He leaned against his desk, his eyes and face full of disgust and displeasure, as if Grace had desecrated his family's grave.
But Grace was not intimidated by his every move. Instead, she pushed the door completely open, and calmly spoke, "Dad, something's happened. Auntie came with me today to sort out Mom's things. I just received a call. Auntie said Vere has been kidnapped and the ransom is five million. Dad, I don't have that kind of money. Can you lend it to Auntie?"
Before Grace could finish her sentence, Brody was already standing up from his chair.
He looked at Grace with concern in his eyes and asked, "What did you say? Vere was kidnapped? What nonsense are you talking about?"
Brody was worried, excited, and uneasy.
But Grace did not respond to his question. Instead, Regina took over. She followed Grace into the study and looked at Brody, speaking softly, "It's true. I just received a call. Look, they even sent me a message. I called Vere's phone, and I heard his ringtone coming from the kidnapper's phone. I called home, and Auntie said Vere went out to buy something. It must be Vere. Hurry and get the money to rescue Vere."
As parents, after their son had been kidnapped, they were naturally extremely worried and anxious.
Even in a situation where they weren't supposed to show concern for each other, they couldn't help but reveal their anxiety and urgency.
Regina even reached out and grabbed Brody's arm, fearing he wouldn't agree, her eyes full of panic and confusion.
Grace's eyes turned colder, not wanting to witness the couple's unruly behavior. She cleared her throat and spoke again, "Dad, you know Auntie's situation. When Mom was around, Mom always helped her. Now that Mom is gone, but Auntie still has a connection with our family. Auntie even calls you brother-in-law. You should help her, right?"
Regina nodded in agreement, "Yes, yes. Grace is right. Please help me, brother-in-law, please?"
Brody was visibly troubled, "I want to help, but I can't come up with that much money right now."
Regina's worry deepened, and her eyes showed dissatisfaction as she looked at Brody, somewhat accusingly.
Grace, seizing the opportunity, suggested, "Why don't you sell a portion of Armstrong Corp's shares? You wanted to dilute Horace's power, right? Well, then you should sell some shares to someone to constrain Horace. If they become a nuisance, Horace won't be able to handle it and might eventually sell his shares back to us."
This was what Horace had taught her on their way back last night. She knew that Ayan had given Horace an idea, so what she was saying now was just the appetizer to that idea. If Brody wavered, then the idea would be halfway to success.
