He said, "It's not very convenient to talk on the phone. I've asked the driver to go over to Darkmoor to pick you up, and he should be there in about ten minutes. We'll talk about it then, okay?"
Kian gave no definite answer and tried to hide the emotions, which made Camille realize that things didn't seem quite right.
She narrowed her eyes slightly, her white face stiffened, and eventually she could only whisper, "Hmm."
Camille clutched her phone as Mrs. Bell's voice rang again, "Cami, what's wrong? Did something happen?"
Camille lightly pursed her lips and did not respond directly, because Kian did not say clearly, then naturally he did not want to let too many people know. So she also just mustered a smile and said: "Nothing, but I have to leave early. It's Ayan. There's a small matter needs to be dealt with. Sorry that I will not be able to accompany you guys for the dinner."
Mrs. Bell did not continue to ask questions. Her understanding and decency made her just nod along with Camille's words: "It's okay, it can be any time to have dinner together. Go ahead and call me directly if you need anything!"
"Okay, I got it, I'll go first then."
Camille got up and grabbed her bag.
Preston also got up. "Camille, I'll see you off."
"No, Mr. Baxter will stay with Mr. Bell and Mrs. Simpson to continue the meal." Camille's expression was impassive as she swept past Preston.
Preston said, "I'll see you out and then get back, and Mr. and Mrs. Bell won't mind it."
"Of course I won't mind, Cami, you'd better let Mr. Baxter do it. He's the host tonight. He won't feel at ease if he doesn't see you out."
Mr. Bell said so, and Camille did not refuse again, she did not want to waste any more time on these irrelevant matters.
Camille and Preston came out of the box one after the other, and the two passed through the long corridor. Her pace was so fast that even Preston had to take a big step to catch up.
Preston asked softly, "Cami, what's going on, why are you leaving in such a hurry?"
"Some personal matters."
"Do you need my help?"
"No need."
Preston added, "I'll have someone drive you there because you didn't drive here and it's not very convenient to take a taxi."
Camille refused: "No, I've already asked someone over to pick me up."
Preston didn't insist any more, but just continued to walk her out of Darkmoor until she reached the door. Camille then stopped to look at him. "Well, you don't have to accompany me any more. Just go in and have dinner with Mr. Bell. I can do it myself."
Preston didn't say anything, just stared at her with a slightly stony face, "Cami, there's really nothing I can help you with?"
"No really." Camille met his gaze frankly, her calmness making it impossible to see any difference at all.
Their eyes locked for a few seconds and Camille took the lead as she turned her body to face him and looked ahead to wait for the driver to arrive.
Preston also stayed with her in this way. Although not talking to each other, she could clearly feel his breathing, so it was hard to ignore his presence.
The two remained silent for a long time, until Preston took the initiative and said, "Cami, do you trust me anymore?"
Camille didn't know why he suddenly said such a thing and simply replied lightly, "You're overthinking it."
