My Ex-husband Begs Me Back (Ayan and Camille) novel Chapter 910

Chapter 910: Explanation

Her indifference and a tone that seemed to ask, "Isn't this a trivial matter? Why get angry?" made Ayan's expression even more unpleasant.

He looked at her, a faint trace of anger passing through his eyes, though not overtly displayed. His voice remained hoarse as he said, "Just drinking? Camille, in a private room with only you and Sienna, surrounded by other guys. Is that not worth being upset over? Do you think I should foot the bill for both of you to have a good time?"

The more Ayan spoke, the more his anger seemed to rise, and he ended up chuckling in exasperation.

A subtle curve appeared on his thin lips, and his deep gaze retained a cold, distant chill. He locked eyes with Camille, the tense silence between them punctuated only by her raspy voice, "Then how about that you secretly went to the airport to pick up Eileen? In comparison, do you think what I did would make you angry, or what you did would make me angrier?"

Camille slightly narrowed her eyes, her expression on her face revealing a hint of coolness. She spoke in a calm and composed voice, "You hid things from me. How did you respond when I asked you? Ayan, I gave you a chance, but you didn't take it."

Camille raised her hand to gently push Ayan away and put on her slippers. She walked into the living room and took a seat on the sofa.

The night seemed unusually quiet, a quietness that began to feel stifling.

Ayan's face remained stern, and his gaze held a distant intensity. He locked eyes with Camille, his voice slightly mellowing as he continued, "I can explain."

She didn't respond, her gaze warm and calm as she looked directly at him. He said, "Eileen did come back, and I did go pick her up. I've told you about her situation. The reason I haven't confronted her directly is that she and Preston share a common goal. I want to know what that goal is."

"It has nothing to do with me. All I know is that Grandma's death is related to Eileen. She went to the hospital, that's an undeniable fact. Although I haven't figured out who made her do this or what other reasons might be behind it, if you continue to defend her, I don't think we have much to discuss between us," Camille said, her tone still devoid of any emotional excitement, as if she were discussing an ordinary matter.

Ayan paused slightly, raising his gaze. He continued, "Nothing to discuss? You still think I'm defending Eileen? What do I need to do for you to believe me? Don't we have even the basic level of trust between us?"

Camille's gaze hardened for a moment, her voice indifferent. "It's because you don't make me trust you."

Camille's stance was firm, indicating that she wasn't willing to let this matter slide with just a couple of explanations.

He reached out and held Camille's hand, speaking softly, "Alright, I admit I overlooked this matter. Can I make it up to you now?"

She remained silent.

He continued, "Eileen's sudden return probably has something to do with Preston. As for her intentions this time, I don't know yet. Currently, the only information I have is that she called after returning, specifically on the evening we had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Bell."

Actually, he didn't need to say it for Camille had already guessed it out. However, for Camille, she hoped Ayan, as her partner, could be more candid, without anything hidden from her.

She took a quiet breath, her expression still detached. She said, "Eileen's business with me, I hope you won't get involved. No matter what the reason, I won't accept it. Now that she's back, I don't need to look so far ahead. If things aren't clarified, I won't give up."

Perhaps others might feel that with the passage of time, certain matters would fade away, but for some things, they could never be erased no matter how many years went by.
