Chapter 462 The Money to Get Married

After finishing speaking, Hank motioned for Nylah to get in the car, and then, he stepped up to Lance.

As usual, Lance greeted him politely, took out the cigarette case from his pocket, knocked out a cigarette, and handed it to him.

Hank didn't accept it but smiled lightly, "Gum."

Lance froze for a while and withdrew his hand. But he maintained his smile and took out a piece of chewing gum from his pocket.

Hank naturally took it over, unpacked it, threw it into his mouth, chewed it, rubbed the wrapping paper in his hand, and said, "It tastes good."

Lance nodded, "Yeah."

Hank said, "It seems we can't be friends any longer."

Lance joked, "We've been fake friends for so many years. Aren't you tired of it?"

Hank said self-mockingly, "I am not tired of it. After all, I have few friends."

Lance bit the cigarette that he had tried to give Hank between his teeth, lowered his head, lit it while shielding the wind with his hands, and said, "You don't need to try to make friends with the people in your circle. They will not help you when you get in trouble."

Hank nodded, "Yeah."

The friendship between men was beyond words.

After they stood silently opposite each other for a while, Hank tilted his head, spat the tasteless chewing gum on the ground, and said, "Bye."

Then, he turned around and left.

Staring after him, Lance pursed his thin lips. When Hank was about to get into the car, Lance said in a deep voice, "Wait."

Hank stopped, looked back, and asked, "What's wrong?"

Lance said, "Don't do stupid things. Don't throw straws against the wind."

Hearing this, Hank smiled in silence.

Lance added, "If you go against Faye, I won't let go of you."

Hank's smile grew bigger when he said, "I know."

Then, he left without looking back.

Watching him get into the car, Lance took the cigarette out of his mouth, threw it on the ground, and stubbed it out.

After a few minutes, he took a deep breath. When he was about to turn around, Andy suddenly said behind him, "Are you sad?"

Lance had not noticed there was a person behind him, so he was taken aback, quickly turned around, and said, "Andy, you can make no sound when you walk?"

Andy said, "No. You did not hear me because you were absent-minded."

Lance didn't deny it but changed the subject, saying, "I'm a little hungry. What would you like to eat for dinner?"

Andy said, "It's better to work for Collin than Hank. At least..."

While speaking, he frowned as if he were deliberating over the choice of words. After pondering for a few seconds, he continued, "At least you won't die."

Hearing this, Lance turned to look at him, gave him a thumbs up, and said, "Andy, I give you full marks for your theory! Cool!"

Lance instantly did not want to brag anymore.

Looking at Lance's frozen smile, Andy said with a rarely embarrassed expression, "I saved the money to get married."

Lance was at a loss for words.

At the same time, Hank was driving away with Nylah who was curling up in the passenger seat.

Hank glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, reached out to turn up the temperature of the air conditioner, and asked in a deep voice, "Why didn't you go back to your hometown?"

Nylah replied, "I don't want to go back."

Hank asked, "You don't want to go back or can't go back?"

Nylah pursed her lips in silence.

Hank said, "Don't meddle with the affairs of the Farrells anymore."

Nylah shivered and said in a hoarse voice, "Mr. Farrell, I'm sorry. I... I just..."

She wanted to say she just wanted to protect him. But she looked too embarrassed now. If she said so, these words would sound ridiculous. She hesitated for a while but give up saying what she wanted to say in the end.

Hank didn't ask any more questions either. After the car ran for a while, he said in a steady voice, "You move to my place first. When Maxwell and Brandon forget about you after a while, you can go wherever you want to go."

Nylah clenched Hank's jacket and said, "Thanks."

Hank said, "Nylah, live for yourself in the future. You don't owe me anything."
