Chapter 1217
Countless people had been deceived in various ways and ultimately left with no way out. The conversation between Skylar and Janine caught the attention of a few employees nearby, who chimed in to share their experiences with annoying spam calls.
Once they returned to the city, Janine gave everyone the rest of the day off and told them to return to work tomorrow.
Skylar and Janine decided to spend some time at the mall. It was rare for the two of them to go shopping together, so they took advantage of the time they had.
The mall was filled with a dazzling array of clothing. Janine picked out several pieces and handed them to Skylar to try on.
She said, “You didn’t bring back many clothes when you came home. Now that it’s getting colder, it’s the perfect time to get a few new outfits. Also, your bag seems outdated. We should pick out some new ones too.”
In the past, Janine didn’t have the means to buy Skylar a variety of new clothes. But now that she could afford it, she didn’t hold back.
Skylar looked at the pile of clothes în her arms and couldn’t help but chuckle. “Mom, I thought we were here to shop for you? Why is everything for me?”
Janine waved her hand dismissively. “At my age, I don’t need many clothes. It’s not like I have to wear something different every day like young people do.”
In the end, Skylar tried on the clothes under Janine’s insistence. Without exception, they bought everything. After all, Janine believed Skylar looked good in anything, and making a decision was too hard–so it was better just to buy them all.
Eventually, Skylar convinced Janine to pick out a few outfits for herself as well.
While they were shopping, Charles called. Upon hearing that they were out shopping, he instantly transferred money for them to each buy two handbags.
Both Janine and Charles made Skylar feel the meaning of being extravagant today. They continued shopping until evening and ended up at a nearby restaurant for dinner.
While they were eating, Skylar noticed someone streaming a live broadcast nearby. Curious, she glanced over and was surprised to see that the person on screen was someone familiar.
It was Annie.
Seeing Annie made Janine furrow her brow slightly. “What a coincidence,” Janine remarked.
A few years ago, when they first met, she had been so fond of Annie. However, that sentiment had changed entirely now.
Noticing the look of disdain on Janine’s face, Skylar quickly shifted the topic. “1 completely forgot you’ve been learning the harp these past few years, Mom. I’ve never heard you play.”
“The harp is quite easy to learn. I even joined a band, and we sometimes perform together. I’ll let you know when we have a show in a few days,” Janine replied.
As Janine mentioned her hobbies, she quickly pushed aside any thoughts of Annie. Skylar smiled and nodded. “That sounds great.”
Over the past few years, Janine had spent her free time either learning the harp or studying Albionian and traditional painting. Charles often remarked that Janine’s ability to learn was unmatched. She picked up new skills at an impressive rate.
However, they couldn’t help but reflect that if Janine had received the same education they did during her youth and had the opportunity to thrive in such a great era, she might have become a remarkable brilliant individual.
However, as they both finished their meal, Annie had just finished her livestream. Skylar had noticed that Annie was surrounded by a throng of admirers.
In recent years, Annie had garnered tens of millions of followers on her platform, with each livestream drawing in billions of views.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
