Calvin looked down at his phone, his face drained of all color. He wondered where Joe was and why he hadn't shown up yet.
A few doctors and nurses nearby continued to urge Rosa to come down.
"Ms. Reese, please, just come down. There's no issue that can't be resolved. Let's take this out calmly."
"Yes, exactly. It's not uncommon for patients to experience mood swings after surgery. But physically, you're recovering well. Ms. Reese, if you're worried about a scar from the surgery, there's treatment to minimize that. When you're discharged, someone will guide you on how to reduce scars. It could even be made nearly invisible."
The nurse assumed that Rosa's despair stemmed from her worry about her appearance and fear of having scars, which was why she was contemplating suicide, so she quickly tried to console her.
These days, so many women set impossibly high standards for themselves, often struggling with any perceived imperfection. Of course, many people also struggled with mental health issues.
However, Calvin knew better. Hearing the doctors' and nurses' words, he broke into a nervous sweat. If this were only about appearance, then the issue would be easy to resolve.
With so many cosmetic clinics these days, each better than the last, anyone could look exactly how they wanted.
"Ms. Reese, Mr. Sowle is already downstairs. He was just picking up the engagement ring. He said once you're fully recovered, he'll marry you," Calvin said hurriedly after seeing Joe's message.
If Rosa jumped from this ledge, his high-salary position and career would be over. He had only looked away for a second when Rosa bolted from the ward straight to the rooftop.
Now, there was a crowd gathering below the hospital.
He couldn't even imagine what the media would report now or what headlines would follow. Just the thought of the impending PR nightmare ahead made Calvin's head pound.
Before, Joe never appeared in public, and no one really knew who he was, so it didn't matter. But after he visited Jipsburg that one time, a few news pieces surfaced, and now a lot of people recognize him.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
