Ernest could only assume that someone had placed those negative items in Avalon Residence without his knowledge. With that thought in mind, he cast another glance at Skylar.
Skylar was already walking toward the residence. At this hour, the younger generation was nowhere to be found.
They were either staying in their own homes or off at work. The seemingly dutiful children and grandchildren now seemed to disdain him for his poor health, especially since he had been coughing frequently. However, they claimed they were worried that their presence would disturb his rest.
Ernest realized that if he couldn't see through their excuses, it would mean he was growing old and foolish. Deciding against exposing them, he concluded it would only create unnecessary awkwardness.
Once inside Avalon Residence, Skylar began to investigate one area after another. As she entered, she felt that something was amiss.
If the items that Kevin had brought in were genuinely beneficial to Joe, it would be impossible for her to sense the presence of other negative items hidden around the residence. The place seemed to have turned into a haven for harboring negative items.
After all, Avalon Residence had stood for over a century and possessed remarkable energy. If someone had intentionally turned it into a place to nurture negative items, that would be truly terrifying.
The first to be affected would be those living in the house, and then it would extend to others with blood ties to the Martins, like Joe.
…
Two hours later, Skylar surveyed the negative items before her and the several talismans stuck in the shadows. Her expression was grave.
Sitting nearby, Ernest's face turned an even deeper shade of pale, his body shaking uncontrollably. He was utterly frightened and shocked.
There were so many negative items, along with several chaotic-looking talismans that made one gasp in horror. Just looking at them sent chills down his spine, and an overwhelming sense of fear washed over him.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
