Two days later, Natalie returned.
Skylar went to the airport to pick her up, and then they went straight to a fondue restaurant. After finishing the meal, Skylar drove Natalie back home.
Natalie sat in the passenger, a sudden silence falling over her.
Earlier at the fondue restaurant, she had been talking non-stop, acting the same as usual. It seemed like her breakup with Austin hadn't affected her at all.
But now, with the silence in the car, she, too, had quieted down. Skylar felt a pang of sympathy for her but didn't ask anything. Instead, she quietly kept her company.
There was some traffic on the road, and they were moving slowly. As Natalie stared out the window at the night scenery, her eyes slowly became red, and tears started to fall.
She quickly raised a hand to wipe her tears away. Knowing Skylar had probably seen her crying, she no longer tried to hide it.
"I can't believe I'm heartbroken again. I don't care. You're staying with me tonight," she said.
Skylar pointed to the back of the car. "There's alcohol and your favorite snack in the truck. I'll stay with you tonight."
"Of course, the one who understands me the most in this world is you," Natalie said, immediately smiling through her tears.
Her heart ached throughout the flight home. She felt empty and exhausted by the time she disembarked, eating the fondue in a daze. But as night fell, the flood of emotions she'd held back finally burst forth.
Thankfully, Skylar was there with her.
…
Joe had just arrived home when he received a message from Skylar.
Her message was short and to the point. She said she would be staying with Natalie tonight and wouldn't be coming home.
He furrowed his brow after reading the message. It seemed like he would be sleeping alone tonight.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
