Did that man think Harvey was free? This kind of nonsense didn't even deserve a response.
Harvey ignored it completely, set his phone to airplane mode, and placed it aside. Then, he was fast asleep within seconds.
…
In the quiet of the night, a figure lay sprawled in a dark alley.
This person had been thrown out of a van by some men just minutes earlier.
A passerby noticed the figure on the ground and approached out of concern, but as they got closer, a strong, pungent smell of alcohol hit them. It was overwhelming.
Clearly, this was just a drunkard who had passed out.
It was late, but instead of going home, this person had chosen to sleep right there on the street.
Dealing with someone like this was more trouble than it was worth—who knew what kind of mess it might lead to?
So, no one bothered to intervene. Besides, it was the middle of the night, and there were hardly any people around.
And so, the drunkard spent the entire night lying on the ground.
The next morning, as the alley became livelier, some mischievous children ran over and playfully kicked the person a few times.
A nearby parent quickly stopped them. Soon, someone began calling out to the unconscious man. At last, the figure stirred.
When he opened his eyes, his gaze was unfocused and confused.
As he realized it was daytime, and the people around him were concerned strangers instead of the menacing figures from last night, he felt a wave of relief. He was safe!
"Call the police! Help me call the police! Someone kidnapped me last night! They tortured me so badly! I need to report this!" Stephen shouted, his face pale with terror.
The memory of the pain from their kicks was still fresh. Were those people connected to Simona? Did she do this?
Terrified and furious, Stephen stumbled out of the alley, muttering to himself, "I'll report this! Simona, how dare you hire people to treat me like this! This isn't over!"
However, before he could leave the alley, a group of men blocked his path.
"Hey! You owe me five million dollars! How dare you hide from me?"
Stephen froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. He stammered, "I didn't borrow that much!"
"Take a good look at the contract you signed! Is this five million or not?" One of the men unfolded a piece of paper and shoved it in his face.
The moment Stephen saw it, a chill ran down his spine, and cold sweat drenched his back.
He would be a complete fool if he couldn't see the truth now.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
