“It’s taken care of Mr. Lourdes told me to leave first, and he’ll handle the rest,” Skylar replied as she got 

into the car 

Skylar knew she wouldn’t have been able to get Jacky to handle this matter without Joe’s help, so she 

added. “Thank you” 

“How are you going to thank me?” Joe flicked his cigarette, his gaze distant and deep. 

His low and sexy voice came through the phone, just like when he seduced her at night, whispering in her ear. Every word made her heart race. Even though Joe wasn’t beside her, Skylar’s face turned red. 

“T’ll treat you to dinner,” she said, taking a deep breath and trying to keep her voice calm.” 

Joe snuffed his cigarette in the ashtray and exhaled the last puff. “I’ll eat you.” 

“What?” Skylar’s heart skipped a beat, thinking she had misheard. 

Hearing Skylar’s surprised response, Joe seemed to envision her shocked expression, and somehow, the Irritation in his chest dissipated.

Skylar didn’t go to work and took another day off. She first went to visit Janine and explained the current

Steven was also there. They were relieved to hear that Skylar had hired a lawyer. That would resolve the issue well, and they wouldn’t have to face the Williamses themselves. 

“This time they should learn their lesson and stop bothering you,” Steven said gravely. 

Skylar smiled and said, “They’re quite forgetful, but they can’t hurt me.”
