Skylar frowned. She wondered what was wrong with Joe. 

Seeing Skylar’s resistance, Joe’s eyes darkened. “It’s not like we haven’t bathed together before. Why are you so bothered now?” 

She didn’t want to talk to him because of Aiken. Now, she didn’t even want to bathe with him. 

When he mentioned bathing together, Skylar almost blurted out, “No way.” 

She took a deep breath and said, “It’s already past 2:00 am. If you’re not going to bathe, I’ll go first.” 

She regretted asking him. So, she locked the bathroom door as soon as she shut it. 

Looking at the locked bathroom door, Joe’s face darkened with anger. 

Skylar finished in about ten minutes. When she exited the bathroom, she glanced at Joe and said, “You can go now.” 

Then, she lay down on the bed. 

Joe entered the bathroom, with a grim expression, without saying a word, and slammed the door behind him.

Skylar raised an eyebrow, sensing his anger, but she didn’t know where it came from. It was late, and she didn’t have the energy to find out, so she just went to sleep. 

When Joe came out of the bathroom 15 minutes later, he saw Skylar asleep on the bed. He could hear her steady breathing as he approached the bed.

Anger flared up in him. 

As he lay down, he noticed that Skylar was sleeping on the edge of the bed, as if she was deliberately putting distance between them. This made his irritation grow stronger. 

Wasn’t it too late to draw the line with him now? 

He had long grown accustomed to sleeping while holding Skylar. Now, lying there made him more awake, and the familiar frustration of insomnia returned. 

After a while, Joe moved closer to Skylar and wrapped her in his arms.
