Chapter 21 Access Denied
Meanwhile, in Nirvana Residence.
The moment Christopher walked into the Murray residence, he saw Frank and Cindy sitting on the couch. At the moment, the look on Julianna’s face was rather awkward. Frank stood up and smiled at Christopher when he saw him coming in, and he said, “Christopher, you’re an acquaintance of Mr. Synder’s? Why didn’t you say so? We should take advantage of your relationship with him! He’s famous among the elites!”
Christopher frowned and glanced at Julianna. In response, Julianna shook her head, showing that she wasn’t the one who gave away the information.
Since Christopher didn’t want to reveal his relationship with Lupine, he came up with an excuse to brush them off. “Mom, Dad, I’m not that close with Mr. Synder. I was surprised as well when I saw Mr. Synder show up personally. I doubt that’ll happen again in the future, though.”
Upon hearing that, Cindy immediately stopped smiling, and she uttered coldly, “So, you don’t know him, do you? I knew it. How is it possible that an insignificant ex-soldier like you would know someone of that importance?”
Frank’s attitude changed dramatically as well. “I was overjoyed because I thought our family is an acquaintance of someone important! Ha! What a disappointment. Christopher, we’re not interested in providing for a person who’s good for nothing. Find a job, will you?” he said disdainfully.
Julianna stood up, and she wanted to explain the situation. However, Christopher shot her a look, indicating that he didn’t want his relationship with Lupine to get exposed.
“Don’t forget to sleep in the garage tonight.”
With that, Frank and Cindy walked to their bedroom furiously.
Upon seeing that, Julianna looked at Christopher. She was pissed at her parents for being snobbish. “Christopher, don’t get angry, okay?” she uttered apologetically.
“Don’t worry. I can handle my emotions well.” Christopher had gone through enough predicaments to not get bothered by what Frank and Cindy had said.
“Okay. Rest early. I’ve already prepared some mosquito repellent for you,” Julianna whispered.
After thanking her, Christopher headed toward the garage. Although the garage was shabby, it was way better than living in a tent in the wilderness. Besides, he had already killed all the mosquitoes in the garage with his special herbs.
In the garage, Christopher was flipping through his medical books. He had a habit of sharpening his medical skills whenever he was free.
Just when he was about to go to sleep, Julianna’s voice rang out from outside, and she asked, “Christopher, are you asleep? May I come in?”
“I’m awake. Come on in!” Christopher put his medical books aside and invited Julianna in. When she saw the medical books, she asked in puzzlement, “Do you know traditional medicine as well?”
“I’ve learned some when I was in the army!” Christopher smiled and answered.
“That’s great! A friend of mine owns a shop selling traditional medicine. I think my parents are unhappy with you because you’re jobless after discharging from the army. I bet they’re going to see you differently once you have a stable income.” Julianna smiled.
Upon hearing that, Christopher didn’t reject her suggestion. After all, his ancestors from the Yaeger family were all medical practitioners. With a faint smile, he answered, “Sure! I’ll pay them a visit in the next couple of days.”
After Julianna left the garage, Christopher received a text from Dennis. It read: Mr. Yaeger, Centurion Corporation’s general manager would like to see you. From now on, you can also look for her if I’m not available. You’re meeting her at Globetrotter Winery!
The next morning, Globetrotter Lake looked utterly dazzling under the glaring sunlight.
Globetrotter Island, the most popular spot in Jadeborough, was located in the middle of Globetrotter Lake.
It was one of the main attractions in Jadeborough. Naturally, its high cost of living was beyond the reach of most people.
The most majestic building on Globetrotter Island was the Globetrotter Winery. Rumor had it that the winery had an enormous collection of rare and exquisite wine.
Everything on the Globetrotter Lake belonged to Centurion Corporation.
At that moment, Centurion Corporation’s general manager, Diane, was sitting anxiously in one of the presidential suites on Globetrotter Island. Being a formidable career woman she was, she wouldn’t even break a sweat if she were to have a conversation with Jadeborough’s mayor.
That day, however, she was on edge because she was about to meet the chairman of Centurion Corporation, Christopher Yaeger.
Christopher was in awe when he glanced around Globetrotter Island. The design of the lake is magnificent. The ancient buildings complement the ancient city of Jadeborough. All the buildings here are luxurious! No wonder it’s considered a place to squander one’s money.
Christopher headed toward the entrance of Globetrotter Winery, and he was about to enter the building.
However, he was stopped by a gorgeous lady dressed in a gown. The lady smiled and asked, “Hi there. Sir, you would need a reservation to go in. May I know if you have made a reservation?”
Normally, no one would stop customers from entering the premises. After all, the place was only visited by the rich and famous of Jadeborough. Christopher, however, arrived in a taxi, and he was dressed in a camouflage suit. In fact, he looked like a countryside farmer.
If the receptionists were to let people like him into the winery, they would be in trouble.
“I’m here to see someone,” Christopher said calmly.
