My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey) novel Chapter 2391

Ruth continued to sway back and forth.

Each time she swayed, it was as if a sharp blade had pierced her heart ruthlessly.

And with each stab, fresh blood would instantly gush out.

Under the soothing motions, the child's outright wailing tapered down to sniffles before he gradually dropped off to sleep.

As her child slept, Ruth's eyes were covered with a misty sheen.

She was so glad that he was still in his infancy.

At this stage, he wouldn't yet know the feeling of grief.

He would still go to sleep peacefully after a short period of sadness.

Unlike her, for after they parted, she was afraid that she would have to suffer this heart-wrenching pain forever until the day she died!

Ruth carried the child into the bedroom.

She put him on the bed and then sat down next to him, her eyes never leaving his sleeping face.

She gazed at him in all earnesty, so much so that she didn't even blink.

Time slowly ticked by.

Madam Quartley began to grow somewhat impatient from waiting.

She was about to let the servants urge Ruth to hurry up only for Rorita to persuade her from it.

"Madam Quartley, I'm afraid they won't be able to see each other again after this. Let them spend more time together." she beseeched softly.

When she recalled Ruth's tear- soaked face, Madam Quartley's heart wavered. She gave in and forced herself to endure it.

Just like that, they waited there for several hours until even the sky grew dark.

No matter how unbearable it was to Madam Quartley, she knew that the child needed to be brought away.

The bedroom door was pushed open.

A servant then appeared within the threshold, "Miss Welmert, Madam Quartley is waiting outside."
