"What are you talking about? How can I not have you in mind?" Weverly exclaimed. "You are my sister. Even if you've gotten married, you will always be my sister. Not only me, our parents miss you too. They always natter on, wondering whether life is good for you in the Quartley Palace."
"Good, very good." Rorita replied.
Weverly was relieved when she received such an affirmative answer from her sister.
Therefore, she took it at face value and mused out loud, "I see, then your relationship with Mr. Tremaine must be going well."
After all, if relations between Rorita and Tremaine were sour, then life in the Quartley Palace wouldn't be like a walk in the park.
Rorita's expression froze for a moment when she heard Weverly's casual remark, a bitter glint flashed across her eyes.
Her life in the Quartley Palace was well indeed.
With her mild disposition, she was very much loved by Madam Quartley. Even Yuliana, with her sharp personality, treated her rather well due to her gentle nature.
To bask in the sun and draw some paintings had become a part of her daily life in the palace and since Ruth's son was sent here, she played with him from time to time as well.
This kind of life was really quite comfortable.
The only thing that she was dissatisfied with was her relationship with Tremaine.
The bitterness in her eyes grew stronger.
It's been quite some time since she entered the Quartley Palace, yet what she had with Tremaine remained the same as before.
Despite being together in the same bedroom, no intimate interactions had ever occurred. Moreover, as Tremaine usually left early and returned late, the times they spoke with each other barely reached more than a few words.
Rorita parted her lips and let out two succinct words, "Very well."
Even so, she hid the truth from Weverly.
Apart from the fact that she did not want her family to worry, she had no room for complaints as this was a road that she had chosen of her own volition.
"That's good." Weverly chuckled, "I did say that even though Mr.Tremaine had another woman in his heart, deep affection can still be borne with the passage of time. What's more, with someone as wonderful as my sister, it's inevitable that he would fall for you."
Rorita's heart ached even more when she heard that, but she laughed along with Weverly.
The dessert that Weverly bought and had delivered to the Quartley Palace arrived around dinnertime as she had predicted.
It was a cheesecake, a common dessert all around.
To receive as much praise as it did, the taste must be a win.
It only took a single bite before Rorita was taken away by the wonderful taste spread out on her tongue.
It was moist upon being eaten, plus the mixture of flavors of cream and cheese blended well together.
Rorita finished off two slices before she sent the rest to Madam Quartley and Yuliana.
Both of them also agreed that it was delicious.
This was especially true for Madam Quartley. As her teeth had deteriorated due to her advanced age, she liked to consume soft foods the best. Therefore, she immediately asked Rorita to give some more to her should she buy them again.
Rorita gave her a smile, "All right, |'|| tell my sister to buy more and send them here."
