Chapter 264
Bradley’s eyes fixated on the distant location of the rescue team, his face etched with coldness and determination.
“But my dad said my grandma is sick overseas. She…”
Ben’s words trailed off as he encountered Bradley’s cold and mocking gaze. Though his heart was in turmoil, he firmly held onto his belief that his father was not the villain they portrayed
him to be.
The night grew darker.
On the deck, the two kidnappers ran a high fever, wrapped in blankets as a doctor administered intravenous drips to them. Their gazes met, filled with despair. They realized that being trapped between survival and death was more agonizing than they had ever imagined.
If they could turn back time, they would never have become involved with Shane.
Rescue efforts continued, but with each passing second, the chances of finding Felix alive
dwindled.
Esther leaned against the railing, her hand gripping it tightly as she stared down at the sea. Her body leaned forward involuntarily, tempted to plunge into the depths to join Felix in death.
Sensing Esther’s intentions, Bradley swiftly stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and pulled her into a protective embrace. “Esther, what are you thinking?”
Esther looked at Bradley’s serene profile, taken aback, before softly uttering, “Felix would be cold.”
The seawater was frigid, too cold for even adults to endure, let alone a child. Esther was overwhelmed with guilt. Her emotions spiraled out of control, and she slapped herself in anguish.
It was her fault.
She had been holding Felix’s hand, so why did she let go when Bradley arrived? Even if they had held her at gunpoint, she should have clung to Felix’s hand, plunging into the sea with him when he was kicked into its depths.
If she and Felix had fallen together, holding on tightly, there might have been a chance for survival.
Her heart ached uncontrollably, tears blurring her vision as she looked at Bradley, desperately seeking reassurance. “Bradley, we will find Felix, won’t we?”
Bradley remained silent, causing Esther to repeatedly reach out and strike his chest, consumed by grief and anger. “Our son will be found, won’t he?”
