Chapter 48
“It’s me. Send the affairs I need to sort through to the hospital.”
“Yes, Mr. Warner.”
After an online discussion among various experts from everywhere across the country, they fixed an effective treatment plan.
An hour later, the door to the operation ward opened slowly. The doctor walked out looking tired and told Jasper and Cole outside, “We managed to save her for now, but whether she can survive depends on her will to live.”
Cole asked in confusion, “What do you mean?”
“During our effort to save her, she’s been quite negative,” said the doctor.
He had never seen someone so determined to die. It was as if any treatment they tried was useless. Even subconsciously, she resisted our treatment methods. I suggest that if you really want her to live, you need to stimulate her will to live. Otherwise, even the best doctor can’t cure a patient who’s determined to die.”
Jasper gripped the doctor’s hand and said gratefully, “Thank you, doctor. You’ve worked hard. I’ve arranged for my secretary to bring you some supper to replenish your strength.”
”
Surgeries were extremely exhausting, and the doctors would do their best to save every patient. They had to be mentally focused in the operating room and their physical endurance was tested.
“This is our duty as doctors. You’re too kind,” replied the doctor.
Jasper then asked, “Does she need to stay in the ICU now?”
“After staying in the ICU for 24 hours, she can leave and go to a regular ward,” the doctor said with fatigue. “However, since she had a bone marrow transplant surgery before, I do not recommend that you go to the ICU to see her now. If there’s a post-op infection, it’ll be troublesome.”
“Okay, thank you, doctor.”
Of course, Cole and Jasper could not go to see Esther in the ICU.
Cole naturally asked, “Mr. Searler, what can we do to make her have the will to live? Is Pixie an
option?”
In Cole’s view, though Tinkerbell was gone, Pixie was still there. As a mother, Esther could not ignore another daughter.
“The couple who adopted Pixie took her overseas,” Jasper said weakly with a bitter smile. “It’s like a drop of water in the ocean. It’s too difficult to find her.”
