The caregiver left.
Mandy watched as Liora cried without pause. She briefly glanced at Jasper and Bradley in the garden before taking a deep breath and hurrying to check the bedroom.
All the valuable items had seals on them. Mandy didn't want to end up broke, nor did she wish to spend too much time contemplating every purchase.
She began by taking a shower and changing her clothes before packing her belongings.
Meanwhile, Liora was still in tears as she approached her. "Mandy, what's going to happen to your father? And your brother? Can Mr. Warner help them?"
Mandy let go of the scarf she was holding and met Liora's gaze. In a hushed voice, she replied, "Mom, the caregiver is gone, and our possessions are sealed. I understand your concern for them, but shouldn't you worry about us? Will we end up homeless?"
Upon hearing that, Liora calmly replied, "Mandy, I have money and a house. We won't end up on the streets."
"Mom, this house is in my name, and it's sealed. Why do you think your house won't be? They'll confiscate all illicit gains!"
Mandy wanted to explain that everything Liora had received from Richard was part of his and Selene's joint assets. Selene had never cared before, but she could make her repay every penny if she chose to.
"It won't happen." Liora pulled out her phone and showed Mandy her bank account balance.
Mandy chuckled and said sarcastically, "Mom, these funds are already frozen by the bank!"
"That can't be!" Liora logged into other accounts only to find all her assets frozen without exception!
"I warned you, this money is ill-gotten, and they won't let you keep it. Instead of crying here, you'd better return to your room and pack your things. We'll take as much as we can. If we run out of options, we can sell them as secondhand items to make ends meet."
Liora took a few steps, then turned back to look at her daughter. "Mandy, I don't know how to pack."
