The sea breeze gently touched Bradley's hospital gown, and he spread his arms, resembling a bird ready to take flight with the wind.
Watching from a distance, Kevin thought Bradley might be contemplating a romantic suicide. He hurried over and held his hand, speaking earnestly. "Bradley, are you thinking about ending your life over love?"
Bradley's deep eyes filled with confusion as he looked at Kevin, struggling to grasp reality. "Do I truly love Esther?"
Kevin firmly stated, "You don't love her."
"What is love, then?"
Kevin massaged his throbbing temples and solemnly said, "I've never experienced love, so I can't say."
Although Kevin had had a crush on a classmate during his school days, he believed that genuine love meant never causing harm to the person you love.
"You've never loved, so you can't understand!" Bradley pushed Kevin away and approached a couple taking wedding photos. "Can you tell me what love is?"
The couple looked puzzled, and Kevin caught up, asking them, "Please share your view of love with him."
"For me, she's my whole world. Her happiness is my happiness. Her smile brings joy to my face.
"Love, for me, is the willingness to give her everything I have as long as she's happy forever!"
Coastal Highway 9's roadside was filled with couples taking wedding photos.
Bradley, still seeking answers, approached multiple couples, posing the same question: "What is love?"
Each couple had a different perspective on love.
Some described love as unwavering devotion.
Others believed love meant being confident in one's commitment.
