Chapter 0147
“My dear Emmal It’s been so long…” Valerie sald, tears streaming down her face.
“My child! Don’t cry! I don’t like seeing those eyes filled with tears,” Emma sald, wiping them away with her hand before pulling Valerie into a hug.
Emma had worked her entire life for the Palmer family. But when Maximus married Alexia, and after recalling how Mary lived with her, Alexia decided to throw Emma out of the mansion. Maximus never found out what happened; one day, he simply went to the mansion, and Emma was gone.
“Emma… I’m so sorry it took me so long to find you,” Valerie said, gently stroking the hand of the woman who held her.
“No, my child! I should be the one apologizing for allowing so many things to happen! To begin with, I should never have stayed silent about everything we went through with Maximus. He was a monster! But now, he’s finally getting what he deserves…” Emma sald, her tone laced with nostalgia.
“Emma… I want you to live here with me! That’s why told Marcus to go to Florentia and find you, although I never imagined I’d arrive and already see you here.”
“My child… Mr. Bartz has been such a gentleman. He’s been so thoughtful with me and my boys; I don’t know how I’ll ever repay him,” Emma said, her mind drifting to the past.
When she had been fired, her situation became dire. Her sons were about to finish their university degrees and needed money, but everything had been upended by Alexia Levett. The boys had to drop out and start working. They didn’t want their mother to shoulder everything alone anymore, so they decided to do whatever they could to support her. Without degrees, they took whatever jobs they could find–one ended up working in a convenience store, and the other at a pharmacy.
“I know your sons now work for companies owned by my husband. They’re doing very well; they’re responsible and intelligent men. I also know you live in a little house my husband bought for you in Florentia,”
“Yes, my child! When Mr. Bartz found us, things weren’t great, but he helped us get back on our feet. But why do you want me to live with you? I mean, with you all. You already have a big family. I don’t want to cause you trouble…” Emma said hesitantly.

‘Emma, you were the one who took care of me when I was practically a child. My kids know all about
you, and I want them to meet you. In fact, they already think of you as their grandmother,” Valerie said, holding Emma’s hand and looking into her eyes with a huge smile.
“You have kids? How old are they? How many? They must be gorgeous! You, my dear, are a stunning woman, and your husband–let me just say–is one of the most handsome men I’ve ever seen,” Emma teased, pinching her cheek.
“Emma! You’re unbelievable!”
“Why, my dear? It’s absolutely true!”
Valerie let out a soft laugh, her cheeks slightly flushed. She had to admit it was true. When she first met her husband, she thought he looked much older than her. She’d even believed he was Peter’s father’s age. But the reality had been very different.

To answer your question, I have two. My oldest, iny daughter, is about to turn 20, and my little boy is 5.
“Mary… It’s been nearly 20 years since I’ve seen you. So that means…” Emma said, trailing off with uncertainty.
“No, Emma, my daughter is…” Valerie hesitated, debating whether to reveal the truth. “She’s Peter’s. I was pregnant with her when he died.”
