“Marcus, you have a daughter? You didn’t mention this last year! She must be a baby.”
“It’s a long story, my friend. I’ll tell you some other time,” Marcus said, patting Valeria on the shoulder. “Let’s go. I want to see them.”
What Valerie didn’t know about Marcus was that these trips to Valentia weren’t solely about business. For two years now, Marcus had been systematically hunting down everyone involved in his family’s murder. He had started at the lowest levels of the conspiracy and was steadily working his way to the top.
In a remote property surrounded by fields, a group of minor white–collar criminals sat huddled. Among them was Spencer, the doctor who had treated Frank Levett years ago when Marcus had paid him a “visit.”
“Well, well, what do we have here?” Marcus said, stepping into the room. “I hope you’re comfortable. Don’t worry, your stay here won’t be much longer. Soon, you’ll be gone. Your families must be so worried. I understand

After ensuring the men before him were no longer a threat, he wiped his hands and took a deep breath.
“Get rid of them. I don’t want any trace of their existence,” he said, wrinkling his nose. “They stink.”
Valeria nodded, unfazed by the grisly task. “It’ll take about a week, Marcus. After this, the only one left is Frank Levelt.”
“Good. Make sure there’s nothing left of them,” Marcus said.
Marcus stepped out of the warehouse, lighting a cigarette and exhaling a long plume of smoke.
“We’re going to hell for this, aren’t we?” Marcus said, glancing back at the warehouse.
“Marcus, you’ve already been to hell and back. You know what it’s like. It shouldn’t bother you,” Lawson replied.
“I’ll live the life I have left. When death comes for me, I’ll accept my fate. I know I’m no saint–I won’t ask for mercy. But at least I’m avenging my family.”
Lawson smirked. “How long will you give Frank Levett? If you wanted, you could take him down
