Chapter 0362

“What just happened with Maximus was the end of something that should never have been. He came to me looking for answers about a DNA test. No matter how much tried to deny it, he already knew the truth. I wanted. to tell you, but I didn’t know how. Then everything spiraled out of control. Marcus, I swear, I never wanted to hurt you or our daughter.” Valerie spoke with tears streaming down her face.
She let go of Marcus’s hand. He had been silent the whole tine. Standing in front of him, she searched his eyes for a glimmer of hope. Marcus pulled her into his chest, held her tightly, and began to cry.
“Valerie, forgive me, my love! I didn’t know how to handle everything that came to light. And then seeing you with Maximus–it made ine snap. I said and did things I didn’t mean. I let my anger take over, but that won’t happen again. I know you have a past with Maximus, and I can’t deny it. Serenity is also his daughter. I can’t argue with the facts–he’s her biological father. But all I ask is that you give me time to adjust to the idea. It’s hard to think about sharing my daughter with the man who hurt you, but I won’t deny Serenity her right to know him if that’s what she wants. Just promise me that, like today, you’ll always open up to me whenever there’s something on
your mind.”
“Marcus… I have nothing else to hide from you. I kept this from you out of fear, out of foolishness, out of so many things. I know they sound like excuses, but they’re not.”
“Valerie, I want you to know that you should never feel like there’s something you can’t tell me. I’ll always try to understand you. We all have a past, and we have to accept it What matters to me is the Valerie I have in my present.” Marcus said, pulling her into a tight embrace. He lifted her off the ground so they were at eye level and kissed the lips he’d missed so much in just one day.
She wrapped one arm around his neck and tangled her fingers in his hair with the other. She felt the love and longing in his embrace. This was her husband–the man she wanted for the rest of her life. She needed nothing more. He was her everything. Pulling him closer, she pressed her lips to his again, feeling a spark of passion Ignite within her. She hadn’t realized how much she missed him until that moment in his strong arms.
