My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s) novel Chapter 349

Alex's words were direct, and the car fell silent instantly.

Candice's eyelashes trembled, and she suppressed her thoughts, responding, "Why are you asking about this?"

Alex's dark eyes stared at her intensely, as if he could see through her.

His tone was calm. "Just answer me."

Candice refused; she lifted her face and questioned Alex in an indescribable tone, "Is prying into someone's private life your pleasure?"

The storm raged against the car, occasionally accompanied by a lightning flash. Alex's voice was cold, as if it carried the storm outside, directly hitting Candice's heart.

He said, "I just want to confirm one thing."

"What thing?"

His expression remained unchanged. His gaze was deep as he looked at her thoughtfully, "Candice, you've always been good at deceiving people."

As soon as he said that, Candice's heart suddenly skipped a beat.

She almost instantly understood Alex's implication.

He still doubted that the child was his.

That was why he asked if she had been with Hanley.

He was just testing her.

Candice forgot one thing. She prided herself on understanding Alex enough but forgot that Alex understood her equally well.

She lowered her eyelashes, feeling his gaze still firmly fixed on her.

In almost an instant reaction, she lifted her head, looked directly into his eyes, and said straightforwardly, "Why do you think I've been with Hanley? Besides, even if I have, what's wrong with adults satisfying their needs?"

Alex looked at her. "Of course, there's nothing wrong."

Candice's eyebrows moved slightly, and her expression was cold. "Then, I hope Mr. Elysian won't ask such intrusive questions again."

Alex remained silent with an indifferent expression.

The two of them returned to the hotel in silence. Candice went to the front desk to get the room key and went to her room.

It wasn't until the door was locked that the calmness on her face shattered.

Once Alex was suspicious of something, he would make a thorough investigation to find out the truth.

Candice sat tiredly on the sofa. She hadn't thought about what she would do if Alex insisted on finding an answer.

She wanted this child.

But she didn't want any relationship with Alex anymore.

She sat on the sofa and thought for a while before picking up her phone and sending a message to Yana.

Yana replied quickly, saying everything had been arranged by her.

Although Candice couldn't help but feel a bit reluctant, there was no other way. Besides, she was tired from the flight, so she decided to directly wash up and sleep.

The next morning, it was still raining.

However, Candice had originally planned to organize materials at the hotel today. She called room service and had the meal brought to her.

It wasn't until evening that Hanley called her, and she stopped working.

Hanley asked, "Is it still raining outside?"

"It's not that heavy anymore, but it hasn't stopped," Candice sighed. "To be honest, it's my first time experiencing a typhoon. I've never encountered it before."

He chuckled softly. "Typhoons are not fun. Be careful at the hotel and stay safe."

She responded with an "Okay" and took the opportunity to ask him several professional questions about the issues she had encountered that day.

After finishing, she wanted to ask more, but he interrupted her, "Have you had dinner?"

No, she hadn't.

Dinner had just been delivered when Hanley called. Candice only now noticed that the food had cooled.
