Dressed in well-tailored trousers, his long legs encased, a deep red tie accentuating his chest, and a charcoal gray suit exuding an air of nobility in every move, Alex entered slowly under the guidance of the staff.
His gaze faintly scanned downward before precisely landing on Candice.
Candice met his eyes, pursed her lips, and pretended not to notice him.
Aether Corporation had always planned to make an impact on the Solaris market, so Alex's appearance as an investor wasn't too surprising. Candice, with an expressionless face, listened to his speech and symbolically applauded along with the crowd.
In the leisure time after the meeting, Candice heard many women around her expressing admiration for Alex. She wasn't particularly interested in such topics, so she found an excuse to go to the restroom.
However, the restroom on this floor was currently being cleaned, so she had to go to the one upstairs. As she entered, she saw a very slender girl standing by the sink. Her wrists were so white that the blood vessels were visible, and her hands rested delicately on the black marble countertop, looking so fragile as if they could break at any moment.
Candice halted for a moment, contemplating leaving. Just as she was about to turn away, the girl turned around, her almond-shaped eyes and cherry lips defining her as a standard Southern beauty. If only her expression wasn't so sorrowful...
As she passed Candice, she couldn't help but give a somewhat ugly smile. Candice watched her leave, feeling a sense of sadness.
However, she didn't pay much attention to it.
Candice came back down in time and intended to seek advice from the experts Hanley had mentioned before.
However, as soon as she entered the conference room, she almost collided with a guy. Stepping back, the guy quickly apologized. After the apology, he looked at Candice with a hint of surprise.
"Are you from Burning Star Studio?"
"My teacher was just asking why no one from Burning Star Studio has come yet. I'll take you to him." The guy, acting quite familiar, smiled at Candice. "I'm Yondu Winston, a senior of Hanley's. I've been responsible for welcoming those who came from Burning Star Studio before."
Candice had heard Hanley mention this name before, so she nodded. "Thank you."
However, as Yondu led her to find the teacher, they happened to pass by Alex.
Although there were many people around Alex, most of them were women, all smiling and chatting. Candice overheard a particularly charming girl saying, "Mr. Elysian, making promises without actions won't work. We need concrete actions."
Without hearing Alex's response, Candice followed Yondu to the other side.
She had to admit that experts were indeed different, and many things became clearer for Candice.
Once immersed in work mode, she was fully engrossed. By the time they were both done, it was already two hours later.
Yondu shook his head from the side. "Alright, so we lost one Hanley and gained another. I always ask people from Burning Star Studio to take it easy. If you're too serious, it makes my job difficult."
The teacher scolded him, "You can't progress if you're lazy, and you shouldn't prevent others from progressing."
Yondu was about to retort when he heard cheers from the front. Someone shouted, "Mr. Elysian said he's treating us tonight at Pearl Grand Hotel!"
Candice looked up, and Alex was still in the same position, surrounded by a group of people. His expression was indifferent, seemingly detached from the lively atmosphere around him.
