Candice looked at Alex and said, "You're overthinking it."
"She isn't calling you Mulberry. She's trying to say that she isn't called Little Berry. She's called Baby Mulberry."
After Candice finished speaking, Ellis, who was in her embrace, chirped, "Mulberry!"
Alex stood still for a moment, then found his voice again, clearing his throat with a tight smile. "Is that so?"
"Yeah. She rarely insists on anything unless she really dislikes it," Candice said calmly. "She probably doesn't like the name ‘Little Berry’. Let's not call her that anymore."
Alex looked at Ellis' clear, innocent eyes, and the excitement and joy in his heart slowly calmed down.
It turned out that everything was his misunderstanding.
Alex mocked himself internally. He had even thought that Ellis liked him.
It turned out that it was merely that he did not understand her.
Candice looked at the rearranged room but did not say anything. She turned around and went back to her room with Ellis.
Ellis played the entire morning and soon fell asleep.
In the afternoon, the carpet Alex ordered arrived. Candice looked at the thick woolen carpet and then at Alex.
Alex explained. "I saw that Little… Baby Mulberry..."
He stumbled over the name he wanted to say and continued, "She wanted to play on the floor, but the old carpet was too thin, so I ordered a thicker one."
Candice said, "Thank you."
Alex's heart, which was hanging in suspense, finally calmed. He lowered his gaze. "I'll call her Baby Mulberry from now on."
He had yet to recover from his flu, and his voice still had a slight nasal tone, making him sound a bit aggrieved and helpless, almost as if he was trying to give assurance for something.
"Alex." Candice interrupted him. She raised her gaze and asked him in a straightforward manner, "When do you plan to leave?"
Alex looked at her, frowned hard, and then looked at her feet.
Though her foot injury was not serious and she was close to full recovery, she still walked slowly.
He said, "I'll leave when you're feeling a bit better."
Candice asked directly, "Daniel's case is about to go to court. Can you really not go back?"
"Oscar is also probably busy buying hearts within Aether now. Alex, are you going to give up everything you've planned so hard for?"
Candice's tone became sarcastic toward the end. Was Alex going to let Aether, which he had carefully worked for, go to waste?
This was also a reminder from Darius. He told Candice that she could personally sue Daniel for attempted murder, and he had evidence to provide.
Candice knew that Darius's help was not purely out of goodwill, but the thought of Daniel facing retribution made her feel moved.
Hearing her words, a hint of coldness flashed in Alex's eyes.
In truth, Alex did not need Candice's reminder. Sieg had already reminded him, and he himself realized that his decision to come here was impulsive. The matters involving Aether and Daniel were not completely resolved yet.
His initial rush was simply due to the thought of Candice getting engaged to Hanley.
Daniel had already caused enough harm to Candice. He had to settle everything before leaving,
At the very least, he had to ensure that Candice and Ellis would not encounter such things again in the future.
He was the one who had created the problem, and now, he had to be responsible for it.
Alex left in the afternoon, and he returned to the country directly.
Before leaving, he still secretly brought Ellis to the side, teaching her to call him "Daddy" again and again.
However, Ellis just kept her mouth shut, stunned and not saying anything.
By the time he returned to South City, it was already deep into the night.
