Candice did not tell anyone of her return to Dorrington. Only Darius had arranged people in advance to pick her up and bring her to the hotel.
She looked at the sparkling night scene outside, her mind in turmoil.
Darius had already told her about the current situation. Alex was keeping a close eye on Daniel, but Daniel's side claimed that Alex was not personally involved, and there was no one to verify his claims.
Darius said, "Daniel is very vengeful. Alex probably doesn't want you to be involved, which is why he doesn't want you to come back. But the truth is, as long as you appear in court, everything can be resolved."
Candice saw through his intentions. "Then what was the purpose of you constantly hinting for me to come back?"
"With them messing around like this, who knows how long it will take."
Darius was very frank. "I have a collaboration with Alex, and I don't want to waste time on such trivial matters."
He was straightforward, showing no regard for what he called trivial matters, which actually concerned Candice's safety.
Candice said, "I understand."
Like Darius, there were other people who also did not wish to waste time on such matters.
Helen's face turned black as she fiercely threw the teacup in her hand to the ground. Her eyes were crazier than ever, and her tone was sharp. "Why did you do this? You could have just called Candice back, but you had to go around in circles like this. Now, Daniel has found a backer!"
In the Sui family villa, Helen's face was ferocious. She had waited for revenge for decades, and it could have been resolved so straightforwardly and joyfully. But Alex, for the sake of a woman, had given Daniel a chance to catch his breath!
Helen screamed, "I don't care what method you use; you must make him get lost for me! I can't stand to see him for the rest of my life!"
"Don't forget, if it weren't for me asking your uncles to help you, you would only be suppressed by that bastard right now. Not to mention being the boss of the Aether branch, you wouldn't even be able to enter the gates of Aether!"
"You thought he was your dad and showed him mercy? Just look at him! Did he ever allow you or I to live well?!"
"I had just married him, and he started fooling around with that slut, Jovita. Besides a pretty face and the ability to pretend to be weak, what else could that slut do?"
Helen seemed to recall something, and her mood turned sour. She stared at Alex, forcing him to make a promise. "Alex, you promised me that one day, those who humiliated me would all be punished."
When she said the last two words, Helen's voice clearly turned cold, carrying an undeniable hatred.
In Helen's once beautiful and charming eyes, there was now a reservoir of resentment, nowhere near the proud heiress of the Sui family that she used to be.
Alex sat opposite her, his expression carrying his usual coldness and indifference.
Helen's frantic appearance was both unfamiliar and familiar to Alex.
It had been a long time since Alex had seen Helen like this, but in his memory, it seemed to be a common occurrence.
The relationship between Helen and Daniel seemed respectful and harmonious to outsiders, but in reality, once they were back home, they either did not speak at all or argued constantly.
At the most serious times, both sides would use the most vicious words to curse each other, and Alex would not be spared either.
And most of the time, the cause was a woman called Jovita.
Jovita was taboo to Helen, and it was the name Alex heard the most during his childhood.
Helen said that Jovita had seduced Daniel, that Jovita was showing off in front of her, and that Daniel would abandon them sooner or later because of Jovita.
Later on, Jovita had committed suicide by jumping off a building.
